Many restaurants around Phoenix call themselves legendary, but for those apartment-ites out there looking for a restaurant with real legendary status, you only need look for Alice Cooperstown, named after Arizona native Alice Cooper, one of the most famous voices in rock and roll. Name recognition only takes you so far, however, the food also has to very impressive. Alice Cooperstown is all about ribs, barbecue and big juicy steaks and chops, the manliest and most hardcore of meals only. There's also a great selection of drinks, as would be expected from a restaurant with such a namesake. To begin your culinary joyride, you can try their Nightmare Nachos, Bo's 'Outlaw' chicken tenders, 'Mark Curtis' meatloaf sliders, or "Dale's" ultimate wings, with your choice of sauce, including: traditional hot sauce, chipotle-madarin barbecue, sweet maple garlic, hot honey mustard, Wild Will's way hot sauce, or Maui sauce. You could also try one of their delectable quesadillas, coming in chunky chicken or veggie flavors. There are also a number of daily specials, including shrimp quesadillas, steak sliders, boneless wings, and even "Dale Juniors" fish sliders. One of the real draws here, however, is stick-to-your ribs barbecue, in all flavors and varieties. You can choose from "Pratt's" pulled pork, "Gonzo's" barbecue beef, or "Coach D's" pulled chicken, or you could try "Tony's" St Louis Ribs, or try them all in barbecue sampler plate, or "The Great One" barbecue feast, with two ribs, pulled pork, hot link, half chicken, smoked turkey and beef brisket, served with cole slaw, fries, mashed potatoes and baked beans. You can also get a number of different combos, including half chicken, brisket, or turkey, all served with your choice of sides. Also available for your consumption are "Dick's" triple chops, three center-cut pork loin chops , topped with sauteed onions and Swiss cheese, or "Coop's" Steak Special, served on marble rye, served with onions and Swiss. For special football occasions, there's always great breakfast options, including the Brady, grilled ham, fried egg and melted cheese on Texas Toast, the Romo, with crispy bacon, egg and melted cheese on croissant, the McNabb, crispy, open-faced sliders smothered in country gravy, or the Warner, thick cut waffle strips topped with powdered sugar and maple syrup. Brunch options include the Moss, boneless wings tossed in your choice of sauces, the T.O., a friend hot dog on a bun with fries, Rothlis Burgers, double meat sliders with bacon, onions, cheddar and pepperjack, and the Eli, spicy andouille sausage grilled on a bun with fries. If you're in the mood for something sweet, there's also a number of signature desserts, including the Coop-Zookie, white chocolate and macadamia nut cookies with premium ice cream and whipped cream, or Saul's Dessert Taco, a flour tortilla stuffed with banana cheesecake and sliced bananas, served crispy with whipped cream and Vanilla ice cream. If you're looking for some finger-licking good barbecue, why not go with a name you can trust. Phoenix's Alice Cooperstown lives up to its manly and hardcore name, cooking masculine food the way apartment-ites like it.
