In 1983, muralist Richard Haas was commissioned to paint a trompe-l'œil mural on three sides of the building that mimicked architectural stonework, using themes derived from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. he building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in December 1998.The building is currently going through a $46 million dollar renovation by Sheraton Hotels so excuse the empty look in the lobby. The homes center around the Atrium, the largest ever built in Missouri. The Atrium stretches from the 5th to 13th floors and is topped by a huge skylight.
