You can spend the night away from your Scranton apartment at a new Lackawanna State Park apartment, or rather, a tent from the nearest outdoor gear store! Seriously - Lackawanna State Park is a beautiful recreation spot for residents of Scranton apartments to camp or play. At this nearly 1500 acres of park, you will find hiking and trail biking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, horseback riding and picnicking, plus lots of winter activities like cross-country skiing, sledding, ice skating and ice fishing. Some of the campsites at this modernized campground include electricity as well. Hot showers and restrooms are nearby, as well as within walking distance of swimming and the lake. In addition, small fishing holes and playgrounds are available for the younger residents of Lackawanna State Park apartments. The swimming area is a 160 foot diameter pool with a snack bar and a bath house right next to it. Five miles of looping trails wander through the park by the lake, fields and streams. Additional trails for horseback riding and trail biking exist as well, the main one being the 3.5 mile Abington Trail. And the 2.5 mile long lake with 7.5 miles of lakeshore is stocked with cold and warm water species of fish, with a fishing pier that makes it easy for residents of Lackawanna State Park apartments that don't have a boat. Electric boats only are allowed on the lake. North of Scranton, Lackawanna State Park is a delight of nature with modern conveniences.
