Texans know first hand that summer means heat, and as the old saying goes...kinda...'if you can't stand the heat then stay out of Houston!' So while you may be tempted to become an apartment hermit, content to bask in the air-conditioning while cracking open a cold one, remember that there is a big world of fun out there - wet, soaking, thrilling fun, and its name is Splashtown. Sure, most cities worth their salt have a water park of one degree or another. And yeah, if you want to be an 'adult' you can still find a lazy river to fall asleep in. But Splashtown caters in a big way to those that like a jump in pulse rate with their cool-down, making it a premo destination for twenty-somethings and those still young at heart. Case in point - how about giving the Ripqurl a try, which launches you out of a dark tunnel at approximately twenty-six feet per second and into an enormous, 4-story-high corkscrew bowl? Too tame? Shoot for the Texas Freefall, which offers up fifty feet of stomach-churning drop, or try your luck on the Tornado, which is everything a name like that implies. Tickets are around $28 per person, so plan to come early and stay late to get your money's worth. And while food cannot be carried into the park, tailgating is allowed, so pre-game with pals before taking the watery plunge - although you might want to wait thirty minutes after eating!
