Reasonably priced and close to campus
July 6, 2023Friendly management and pet friendly. Very reasonably priced compared to other rental options in the area, especially for the unit sizes and close location to campus. Recommended to have your own transportation though since public transit doesn't stop here.Reseña de Apartments.com
Misleading
October 3, 2022After passing all the pre-requisite conditions to be approved for signing a lease at Monticello Village we get denied because of a credit check that wasn’t on the list of things required. Two days of being nervous and anxious because we only have until the end of the month of October Which is three weeks away from the time of this review to find a place or we’re homeless with my two children. You would’ve thought that a cockroach infested apartment complex would have a little bit of a lower ...standard. But to be denied because of a credit score under 600 is just downright ridiculous. First apartment
December 21, 2021Although it looks nice it definitely was not worth the rent. There were cockroaches stinkbugs and there parking lot os extremely small. I helped move out my neighbor who lived there 25 years she said its gone to the dump and I see exactly why she said that.Property Manager Responded
January 27, 2022We have the apartments treated once a month at our expense. If there were roaches spotted then they were wood roaches which basically live in the trees but probably do occasionally get in. The same goes with stink bugs because we are in a country setting. The parking lots are a little tight but can be navigated easily. We have many long term residents, some have lived here 10 years and are very happy. A lot of the apartments have been upgraded and more are scheduled to be in the near future.

We love it here-- a hidden gem!
July 11, 2021Monticello went under new management within the last couple of years. We've lived here for almost four months now and cannot recommend it enough. Mona was so helpful during the leasing process and is always very responsive. Maintenance requests are easy to put in and Wes, the maintenance guy, always comes within a day and is very respectful. We have a larger dog and there's lots of grassy areas to walk her. We are not students and were having a really hard time finding a nice place to rent in ...Athens. We could not be happier at Monticello. It's a quiet location while still being very accessible to uptown. They've been renovating the apartments from the previous management and ours is mostly updated. It is so clean and spacious and looks great! Family and Pet Friendly Apartments with Great Maintenance!
August 26, 2020My family of four truly love living here at Monticello Village. I am an Ohio University (OU) professor. This apartment complex is close to OU campus. I am impressed with its cleanliness, great maintenance team, pest control, and renovations. What really stood out to me is how big the apartments are with spacious rooms, walk-in closets, and Berber carpet. The pool and playground is an additional great feature and well kept. Living here has been a positive experience. It is quiet, with a ...beautiful country view from my patio. It is family and pet friendly as well. I am impressed that pets are screened for the safety of our residents. Our next-door neighbor has a calm sweet small dog who doesn't bother anyone. Lastly, whenever we needed maintenance, they immediately came and fixed the issues without delays. I would highly recommend Monticello Village apartments! Nice place to live
July 11, 2019The apartments are not new, but they are well maintained. The rent is good, especially for the space (lived in a large 2-bedroom and a small 3-bedroom). It's quiet there, lots of professionals and med/grad students. It's about two miles to campus and city transit can pick up on Richland Ave., which is about a mile from the complex. OU students qualify for a commuter pass, which is nice. The manager was extremely helpful and always timely in her responses to my questions, concerns or requests for ...maintenance - she's A . Lovely place to live.
May 21, 2019I am living in Monticello village apartment since 2017 and I love the place and can't live anywhere else. The apartments are spacious and clean. The air conditioning system is fantastic, it has a control system in the house. The laundry upstairs is convenient, always clean and functional. The place is quiet and has a safe environment. It is affordable compared to other places in Athens Ohio. The best manager that I have ever seen, response fast, very polite and professional. Maintenance staff ...in Monticello village are attentive, quick, very kind, and helpful, they normally respond in hours to repair. Good place to live
January 17, 2019I've been here at Monticello since 2015 and it is very quiet place with very pretty view. The maintenance man always helps me when anything needs to be done and he is very nice. The manager always helps me with things like helping me write checks and gave me sewing things to help me. My English is not very good but they are very patient with me. Spacious apartments in quiet setting
January 16, 2019Spacious and clean apartments that are very affordable for the Athens area. Quiet and peaceful place to live. Management quick to respond on issues and takes care of things. October 7, 2016I want to share some real experience living there for over year, some of them may not be true since their buildings are units are pretty different in terms of maintenance and aging. Good: 1. Nice property manager, probably the best I have worked with ever, response fast, polite and professional 2. Good repair staff, three gentlemen, they usually response repair calls in hours 3. quiet and safe environment 4. affordable compared to other places in Athens ohio Not so good: 1. Mouse and all ...kinds of bugs because the building seals are so bad so old 2. terrible noise from AC and upstairs, you can hear anything... you will know your neighbour upstair so well after couple weeks 3. far from bus line, driving is almost the only option 4. cold in winter, hot in summer. Again, window is single layer old fashion, they leak hot/cold air quickly. Cheap apartment for the Athens area, but with a few drawbacks.
May 7, 2014Although the rent is reasonably priced for the surrounding inflated market, I have a few complaints about the complex. First off, I live on the middle floor-one apartment above me and one apartment below me. Not to be dramatic but I hear the people in the apartment above me walking and talking (at a normal volume). I can also smell their food and showers from time to time. However, I do not hear the people in the apartments below or beside me. So if you decide to live here, I greatly suggest ...living on the top floor. Also, additional utilities are added to the stated rental price (i.e. trash-$8, flat gas rate-$25, water-$30, electric for the hallways-$6). This usually adds up to around $60-100 more than the rental price. The apartment does not have its own water tank so water is divided by the number of tenants in the building.Maintenance comes into your apartment to read the meter in the bedroom once a month. On the plus side, heating the apartment during the winter is cheap because it is gas ($25-35 per month for a 2-bedroom apartment).Leer MásReseña de Apartments.com
