The property itself also abuts the Burncoat Pond Wildlife Reserve, which provides a rural feel to the complex itself, as well as close access to several miles of hiking trails. Route 9 also means relatively easy access to shopping, with a Super Walmart less than 1/4 mile away from the facility. - Price: These units provide an extremely reasonable price. - Cats Allowed: the landlord allowed me to keep two cats with me in my 2br unit (no dogs, though). - Quiet: Almost no traffic noise, and the apartments themselves are surprisingly well-insulated for noise. The neighbors were also pretty quiet. - WRTA Stop: A few bus routes travel down Route 9 past the complex, making stops at the Walmart, and on the street by the facility. - On-Facility Laundry: there are three coin-op facilities on-site (bring your own quarters, though). Cons: - Non-Replacement Windows: The facility, while well-maintained and repaired, still has the original windows that were installed when it was built in the 1970s, as of 2016. These tend to be pretty drafty, and consist of two large, vertical panes, which means a window AC unit will require some cleverness to accomplish. - All-Electric Utilities: This made for a very high heating bill in winter (this is to be expected of an old facility running electric heaters). - Smoking: Many of the other residents smoked, and the smell was quite pervasive, often forcing me to close the windows. - Far Away By Foot: Unless you wanted something from Walmart, going out usually meant at least a ten-minute drive, and the portion of Route 9 surrounding the complex is devoid of sidewalks for quite a ways. - Courtyard Flooding: Especially in winter time when there's snow on the ground, or in periods of prolonged, heavy rain, certain sections of the courtyard are prone to flooding. Thankfully, these do not encroach on any of the units.
