Hoosier in a Strange Land
September 8, 2015I moved in to this address recently. Despite the new renovation it's obvious that the construction crew took shortcuts. All of the water spouts are backward meaning, the warm knob is actually the cold knob and vice-versa. At one point, the power in our unit was out for four days. The landlord was not terribly receptive to what we were telling him. Despite these things, everything in the unit is new, from the floors to the appliances , which is nice.Review from Apartments.com
Okay Apartment at the Vanguard of Crown Heights Gentrification
August 13, 2015The apartments are the epitome of "okay." They're more spacious than most Manhattan apartments but don't hold a candle to the size of the apartments/ houses just a few blocks north or even in Bed-Stuy or Bushwick. It's incredibly close to pretty consistently reliable transportation that will get you to Midtown in 30-40 minutes, depending on train congestion. The manager is hit-or-miss on timing but, inevitably, will see to your concerns. The neighborhood is receiving a lot of (undue) police ...attention, in part, as a response to the number of young, more moneyed folks coming into the neighborhood. A few years ago, it wasn't nearly as safe; now, there's a Starbucks and an organic grocery store just a 15-20 minute walk away and you can go for a night jog to Prospect Park and back without too much of a bother (unless you're a woman; then there will likely be street harassment.) The units are relatively affordable (by NYC standards), and the only major downside of living there is that there is a lot of construction across the street and a pretty gross looking building nearby that attract pests. Fortunately, they do provide free extermination as part of management services, and a little bit of caulk can save you a whole world of trouble.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
