Untrustworthy owner and caretaker, poorly maintained, bed bug ridden
September 26, 2017This apartment probably would attract you because of the cheap price and good location. Its not cheap, here's why. You can kiss your deposit which is a full one month's rent good bye. The amount of money you will spend on cleaning and getting rid of bugs will add up ($250 for me), not to include the frustration and time and effort that comes with it. The caretaker has mood swings and is known to destroy people's property. Specifically he threw away people's tables, flower pots and any other stuff ...just because he had a bad day and had to take it out somewhere. If he blames the last renter for the bed bugs, be warned he does that every time. When I reported bed bugs, I was offered a bed bug spray as a solution. When I asked why the apartment I moved in was so dirty, I was told it was the last renter's fault and they should have cleaned it up. This guy who is literally the "caretaker" told me that I am moving in a dirty apartment because the last renter's left it that way. When I was leaving, I specifically was told that there were other people who wanted my furniture so I don't need to throw it away. Then when my deposit came back, I was charged $300 for the furniture which I was told to leave behind. Oh.. as far as an enquiry is concerned, they just stop responding to my calls and messages. Of course they would, they know that I left town, and so they can just ignore my calls and keep my money. If you still decide to go there, please understand that you chose this for yourself. I had no prior warnings, there were hardly any reviews. You have been warned.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Awful
August 2, 2017I highly recommend looking somewhere else. We lived here for about a year and had all kinds of problems the entire time. I had to go to the doctors because different parts of my body were swollen from bug bites. There's mice, ants and black mold. The caretaker Doug ruins people's property and the owner never returns your phone calls. Whenever we asked the caretaker about the black mold he only comes in to paint over the mold. DO NOT MOVE HERE! Definitely go somewhere else.Review from Apartments.com
Not pleasant but cheap
August 19, 2015This apartment building is quite old and therefore the plumbing is bad, and bugs frequent the premises often. The summers are too hot and the old heating system means the winters can be really hot and really cold at random times. It is also located in a scarier area of Dinkytown, so make sure to pay for a parking spot in the lot. All of that being said, it is the cheapest rent you can find in Dinkytown, and the landlord is very laid-back. Sometimes those two things are more important for college ...students to have rather than nicer, more expensive apartments.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
