AVOID AT ALL COSTS
September 15, 2023The term “too good to be true” applies to any and all PMC Property groups. Prior to moving in, our bathroom was infested with ants. We’ve dealt with ongoing leaking from the roof and windows (which management has known since June and has not done anything to rectify — always giving the excuse that it’s the contractors or they have to wait to hear back from the higher ups). Now we have mold underneath the floorboards and on the walls because of the leaks and because our neighbor’s HVAC flooded. ...The roof leaked so badly outside of the trash room it caused one of the elevators to be out for weeks. And I don’t even want to think about what disgusting mess is in the carpet. The property “manager” Jeanne is NEVER available and never returns called, and Maria the “assistant” property manager will give you an attitude anytime you ask for help. She will also say she cannot do anything because she’s only the assistant. These apartments could be the best thing in Hartford, but it’s the management that will run this place to the ground. Honestly, invest your money somewhere else because until an entirely new management takes over, this place will never get any better.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Worst Apartment Experience Ever
June 29, 2022The management is terrible. We asked for fixes in our apartment so many times to no avail. There were bedbugs when we moved in (costing us 2 beds). The building elevator was broken 50% of the time. This was an issue for us considering we lived on the EIGHTH floor. As if living there wasn’t bad enough, moving out was an absolute nightmare. On the last day of my lease, when I turned in my keys, they told me that they had already auto renewed my lease two months ago. They gave me the option to ...either continue living in the apartment for a year with increased rent or turn in all of my keys and continue to pay rent until they find someone to replace me (in addition to having to pay a break lease fee for a lease I didn’t sign). Pay careful attention to all the sketchy things they hide in the lease or be prepared to lawyer up. I’ve lived in multiple apartments in the past and this is by far the worst renting experience I’ve ever had. Rent at your own risk.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR PEACE OF MIND
May 20, 2021If you enjoy getting woken up by fire alarms at random times of the night, living with bed bugs and roaches, living in suffocating or freezing temperatures, walking 15 minutes before you get to your car, getting your packages stolen constantly, and getting harassed by homeless people outside then this is the perfect building for you.Review from Apartments.com
Avoid PMC-managed properties
April 30, 2021Our unit is okay with big bathrooms and high ceilings, but all finishes are cheap with stained carpets, poorly installed laminate floors and poorly maintained common areas like hallways and garbage areas. There are tenants in the building who smoke indoors, several incidents of puke in the hallways, and multiple tenants who allow their dogs to defecate in the halls and stairways - Accidents happen, but apparently these (several) tenants don't find it their responsibility to clean up after. My ...biggest issues living here for the past few years have been with PMC - Their office staff is completely unresponsive and uncommunicative. It's gotten SLIGHTLY better over the past few months with a staff changeover, but there is still very little proactive communication and repairs take months (if they're even addressed in the first place). But hey, they started some random newsletter to promote virtual yoga class and 'health tips" during the pandemic so maybe that's enough for you! The elevators and alarm system are often broken, as is the HVAC system. For prospective renters, be aware that from April to October you'll have access to AC but not heat, and vice versa during the other half of the year - This isn't super uncommon but the property descriptions often leave this out. Also, expect to pay $250-$350 per month for electric as the HVAC fan in your unit runs off your meter. Cheapest 2-bedroom option downtown, but you'll get what you pay for.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Apartments are worth the price but the management is horrendous!
January 21, 2019Winter -21 degrees windchill update - my windows are frozen on the inside. See attached photos below. Still no sign of fixing the issue. We were told they would be happy to release us from the lease if the inconvenience continues :/ this is at 915 Main St. building. The apartment is very pretty, but a heavy price to pay for the lack of care shown by the Hartford management team. I am Very disappointed. We have lived here a little over two weeks now and are already seeing the truth in the ...previous poor reviews to be true. We moved into a one BR apartment in 915 Main St. and the reason we signed the lease was that we were assured a few things would get taken care of in the apartment before our move-in date. Come move in day none of that was taken care of but we were given the excuse of their maintaining team being busy with an emergency in another building and that they would take care of it later that week or first thing the following week. The next week passed and two more week after that and the issues continue. We have called the office multiple times, and people at the office say they will speak with the maintenance team and call us back but no callback. We even asked to talk to the property manager, but she is always out of the office and never calls back. One of the biggest problems is the draft in the living room from a gap running along the side of the window, and nobody has gotten back to us in over a week. This gap is causing water to accumulate all along the window frame and drip into a pool onto the ledge. They assure you maintenance issues will be taken care of within 24-48 hours and that the negative reviews are all disgruntled tenants or the fault of a previous property manager who wasn’t cut out for the job, but I am beginning to feel the promises and care shown while seeing the apartment and signing the lease is just to get you through the door and bound to the contract. We made the mistake of ignoring negative reviews but I urge whoever is moving in please make sure if you have issues you want to fix with the apartment take them down in writing, so you’re not tossed around from one office employee to another saying you will receive a call back only to wait days with no response. This is my fifth rental and never have I experienced such a laid back and unconcerned management before. I am very disappointed with this company, and considering reaching out to corporate to escalate this matter further, so it’s taken care of promptly.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Worst Management ever.
January 4, 2019Expect to be cheated out of your deposit. Do not trust anything you are told verbally. Get everything in writing. Make sure you get your walk through and note all the issues in your apartment. This company is on the AG radar for overcharging electricity as well. Renter be warned.Review from Apartments.com
The worse management I have ever seen
November 23, 2018Only one elevator in service for over 45 days. As of 4 days ago, zero elevators in service. There is never a sense of urgency for them to fix anything. I live on the top floor, there was a problem with the roof and water leaked into my apartment in 3 different locations. They did not bring buckets or do anything until after the rain stopped 48 hours later. Ceiling (sheetrock) fell in bedroom. Took them over a week to come repair. The price is obviously halfway decent but not worth the ...hassle. Will be moving out at end of lease.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
You get what you pay for
July 17, 2018I was suspicious upon move in as to why the largest apartment I viewed downtown was also the cheapest when the quality of the apartments were all about the same. I have found out slowly throughout my 8 months here that you get what you pay for. Pros - large apartments, cheap compared to the comparable apartments in the area, friendly Doormen and relatively low noise from neighbors. Cons - the "close parking" is not included and is 2 blocks away, move in is a nightmare (no spot for residents to ...park while they move in or out), the package room was broken into and in the 4-5 months since nothing has been done to allow residents to begin receiving packages again and contacting the agents is incredibly difficult if they have already taken your deposit and you have signed the lease (no more money to make). Overall I would say this is the apartment version of a value airline. As long as you know the service will be bad and the amenities will be lacking it's a great deal. It will be hard to move out knowing what a great price I am paying for the apartment but I will not miss my daily 10 minute walk to and from my car, the unresponsive landlords and inability to receive packages due to management's unwillingness to create a solution.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
I love living here....
November 21, 2017This building is very nice and the doorman's are very loyal to their job. They are very sociable and mannerable. Always asking people for help. They've even gone out of their way to go back and forth and monitor tenants cars as they run their groceries up. They are without a doubt AWESOME. Management is real cool as well too. If I had an issue with my apartment they would send over maintenance crew member that same day you called or the next. They own 4 properties. The only thing that's bad ...about living downtown is the parking and panhandlers. The Doormen in our building sends them away if they follow you. through the front door. But it definitely is a good place to liveRead MoreReview from Apartments.com
PMC is the worst property management group ever!
July 21, 2017Have been living in 915 Main st downtown Hartford for a year. I agree with most the comments here that the building itself is nice, and great location. However, the management is the worst I've ever dealt with and the maintenance crew is very unprofessional. KRYSTAL the property manager does not seem to care about the tenants at all. When you call to complain, she acts like you are a bother. 2 out of 3 elevators are always out of service. Have a doorman... but dude has the best job ever, since ...he's just sitting there and leaving the front door wide open, invite everyone in... what's the point to pay a doorman if its an "open door policy". Outsiders are coming in everyday to use the gym in the basement. I've ran into outsiders using the gym to host their private gym classes. And ofc, when you tell the management office those things, they give you that none of my business attitude. If you're looking for renting with PMC, I sincerely advice you to check their reviews online first. The leasing agents may seem nice to you, but that's how they trick you into the door. Once you move in, they will put on another face.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Beautiful Apartment...Ugly Management
August 3, 2015This buidling is full of beautiful, spacious apartments in the heart of downtown Hartford. There are two restaurants and a bar on site as well as a convenient store in the lobby. Tall ceilings and plenty of closer space can be found in each apartment and the appliances are either new or lightly used, so it disheartens me to write a bittersweet review. Although this is a beautiful apartment in a prime location, the management of this building is simply horrible. I have lived here over a year and ...have had multiple leaks in my apartment from the pipes in the wall and water heater. The repairs take forever and getting in touch with the management company can be a nightmare. I would caution the renter in considering this place. The company which services gas and electricity is very shady in billing and the meter readings have never occurred in my time here - in fact, I was not billed for 4 months and out of the blue the electric company wanted hundreds of dollars all at once and didn't offer any explanation. Beautiful Apartments...but save yourself the headache.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
