  • Why I'm trying to leave

    Have regretted moving here since day 1. Here are the main issues summarized: 1. Office staff: It is impossible to get ahold of the staff, they do not answer the phone (I have called multiple times over my months of living here and have never gotten a person) and if you leave a voicemail, you will not get a call back. I work 80 hours a week and the only way to get in touch with them is to walk into the office. When you get there, they are unhelpful and rude. 2. Safety: The gates to this "gated" ...
    apartment complex rarely function, letting in just about anyone. Packages are repeatedly stolen and doors are constantly propped open (which the office staff refuse to help with). More than once the doors to the building have been broken allowing anyone to walk in and out for weeks at a time. Within 1 week of living here my car was keyed. I filed a police report and notified the office who assured me they would take steps. Instead nothing was done and I noted at least 5 more cars keyed within the week. 3. Parking: Constantly have to park on the street, and forced to walk quite a ways to get to the apartment in the early morning or evening, feels extremely unsafe. The only way to ensure parking, I have been told, is to pay $200 a month for a garage spot on top of already exorbitant rent. 4. Cleanliness: From dog pee in the elevator, to valet trash service that is not consistent- leaving the hallways stinking of garbage. There is frequently trash littered throughout the hallways and they buildings smell like pot more often than not. Don't be fooled by the online pictures either, while the apartments might look nice enough, the hallways have concrete floors and look more like a warehouse than a home. 5. Packages/Deliveries: Living in a "luxury" apartment, you'd think you could get packages delivered safely. However, the most well known delivery services (UPS, FedEx, Amazon) do not have consistent access to the buildings or the mail room. Once packages are delivered they are frequently stolen. Don't be fooled by the promises of Parcel Lockers, your packages rarely end up there. Staff will not help you if your package is stolen either. There is also no functional buzzing system for this apartment so if you order delivery of any type you must let them in at the gate. 6. Overpriced: This apartment is way overpriced for the low quality that it is. There are multiple apartments in the area that are cheaper, nicer, and I'm sure have more helpful office staff.

    It has truly been a pleasure living here during these past two months since I moved in. I have had a few maintenance issues, but within the hour any issues are rectified. Ive read reviews about problems in this community prior to my move in, but I have not experienced any thats far. This is an amazing apartment community and I love it here. Keep up the good work RETREAT AT THE RIM. .

  • Worst Parking System!

    I have been debating posting about this issue for over two months, but chose not to, as I’m not one to leave bad reviews for businesses. I have been living here since September 2019 when it first opened up and parking has always been tight but over the last several months as the community is “fully leased” it has become a nightmare. I work late nights and on several occasions have had to park my car across the street at lifetime fitness or drove around for 20-30 mins and wait for a spot to open ...
    up for me. There are so many college students or younger people who are visibly parking their cars at the community while visiting a resident and leaving them there over night. There was even a uhaul truck a resident had parked in a spot for several months and the management never did anything about it. They have SO MANY open car ports that they could assign to certain residents to elevate the parking issues, but instead they’d rather be greedy and wait until residents get frustrated enough to pay their ridiculous prices for carports. Now they are enforcing “resident parking tags” and instead of making an effort to make this a smooth transition, they are towing resident vehicles and expecting us to deal with the costs. No effort was made to call the residents to warn exactly when towing will begin just vague emails and poster on entrance door saying it will “begin soon” and to pick up your parking tags. Not to mention they take our license plate #s, make and model of vehicle, so I’m not sure what the use of that is if you’ll tow your residents regardless. They expect community visitors to strictly park outside the gates, which is maybe 20-25 spots, makes perfect sense considering there’s several hundred apartments in the community. How is anyone suppose to have people over?

      Anonymous, we're disappointed to hear of the negative experience you had at our location. We did issue parking permits to ensure every resident has a parking spot. The parking permit does have to be displayed in the vehicle at all times so the towing company will know not to tow the vehicle.     Living at the retreat these past couple months not only has been great living at but one of the best experiences for me in San Antonio. All my neighbors are friendly and welcoming, it is a well kept up environment but most of all the atmosphere of the restaurants, bars, and stores all in walking distance is the best of all, I definitely never need to leave this area for anything! :)
