Renters Reviews and Ratings
Century Oaks Apartment is in no way a pleasant place to live.
August 11, 2017While every thing LOOKED clean on move in day, the opposite was true. Everything: cabinets, refrigerator top, sides, and underneath; stove underneath, sides, backsplash, and underneath the hood; tile floors, windows, and inside closets had to be cleaned. The air filter was choked with filth and cat hair from the previous tenant and we were responsible for the replacement. The ceiling fans, while nice looking, were cheap and out of service one way or another on a monthly basis. The lighting in ...the master bedroom closet had a short that needed repair, while the string to the fixture in the small bedroom simply broke off with no way to repair. The dishwasher needed replacing as it either leaked all over the kitchen floor or backed up into the sink; however we simply had to make do. The knobs on the cabinetry repeatedly came loose, so we finally stopped using them to open drawers and cabinets. There are absolutely no amenities at this complex: the on-site laundry certainly didn't qualify as the machines were regularly out of order. As a matter of fact, the two washers couldn't be used simultaneously because of drainage problems that caused flooding. The cost of the washers is $1.75 for 26 minutes, but there is an extra charge for hot water. The same goes for the dryers: pay high heat and dry clothes. Our last week there, end of July, our air compressor went out, so we had no air for a week in 90 degree heat. We were told the part needed to be ordered, but the morning after our move, the air was repaired. This was a total affront! Here we were; packing, cleaning, and trying to move, all while sweltering and sweating in an apartment where the thermostat read 94 degrees. We, as tenants, apparently didn't warrant a timely repair. Our lease had ridiculously high rates for anything found wrong upon our move out: $150 for not having carpets professionally cleaned, $100 for a missing key, and a mandatory $150 cleaning fee. What was done with the cleaning fee from the previous tenant? Our apartment was filthy when we moved in and no offer was made to clean it. Upon move out, we left the apartment much cleaner than we found it, had the carpets professionally cleaned and used a powerful antibacterial cleaner for all surfaces, inside and out. However, we still owe the $150. There are much nicer places to live for almost $1000 a month, most offering very nice amenities. Frankly, we couldn't wait to move out. We would NOT recommend Century Oaks Apartments.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
