  • Just being honest

    February 8, 2020
I have lived in a lot of apartments in the tri cities, and Charleston Square is by far the worst. I lived here for over a year, and you can imagine that was by no choice of my own. The neighbors are loud and there are constantly police officers showing up to deal with residents. Management changed at least 4 times in the less than 2 years I lived here. If you're even a day a late on rent, even if you give the management notice and have been overall timely and respectful residents, you can expect ...
a passive aggresive letter in your door threatening eviction. Within my first 5 months here my rent check was lost, and management accused me of lying about turning it in and threatened eviction, even though I could provide a money order receipt and could be seen dropping it off on camera. Laundry is on site but the machines were constantly in disrepair, overexpensive, or all taken up due to only having maybe 4 washers and 4 dryers for an entire complex of residents, not to mention the tenants that have gotten cat waste in the lint traps in the past. The maintenance guy was an absolute sweet heart but it was impossible to get anything done. Utilities could be cut off for an entire day due to issues while no one answered their phones or updated you on what's going on until hours after the deadlines they set. Rooms leaked and don't even get me started on the ants and roaches that we had issues with before, even though I am an incredibly clean person and keep a spotless home. Neighbors are nosey, loud, and disruptive, and management will only be friendly to you if you come off as aggressive. Communication was impossible and I had multiple pieces of paperwork that had been filed when I moved in, lost, due to the constant changes in management. Property was generally clean until my last few months here, when other tenants had started throwing food out their backdoors at night and into the lawn, as well as littering everywhere. Pets are not allowed but almost every tenant has a dog or let's the stray cats in and out of their homes. Have had property broken into on the premises. Stray animals always around. Would not recommend this place to my enemy.

  • Worst Experience

    August 18, 2019
This place is over-priced for what they offer. There are no washer and dryer hookups in the apartments. They rent to many bad people who are disrespectful to other tenants. There is an issue with bedbugs in some apartments and management won't do a thing about it. Stay far away from this place.

  • Misleading

    August 9, 2019
Let me just say, living here has been a decent experience; I can't really say many negative things. However, they have recently began "upgrading" units, so the wooden blinds, ceiling fans, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors are not in all units. If moving into a unit that hasn't been updated (which is probably a good chunk of the units because they WONT update units that are lived in), you will have to wait a decent amount of time until you are able to move in. Make sure to enjoy all ...
those things because they are people around who are still rocking carpet, white appliances, & no ceiling fans along with the good ole hand washing of dishes.

  • Save your money, sanity, and possessions! BEWARE.

    May 30, 2018
People outside screaming at each other every single night. People allow their children to throw balls at cars, and run around all times of days and night. Make sure not to leave any valuables (even pocket change) in your car or people will be peeking in your car, and might even bust out a window to get to it. They allow people to park in fire lanes, on sidewalks, and basically anywhere they want. The ‘updates’ to the apartments are very cheaply done. You can see where they tried to just slap ...
paint over the peeling kitchen cabinets, and some of the drawers don’t work. Not to mention the giant pile of nasty, old furniture they keep piled by the entrance. No washer/dryer hookup is a cherry on top too. For the prices of these apartments you could live somewhere without screaming in the parking lot 5 nights a week. These would have potential if they screened the people they choose to lease to better. Management has decided none of this is their issue, and I hope anyone who is choosing a place to live - REALLY take this review into consideration because you will be miserable living here.
    • Property Manager Responded

      May 30, 2018
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you feel like this but for management to address these issues you must report it to management. If you turned in a work order on the drawers not working we would write it up and have them fixed for you but you have not. . All residents are screened before move in and when domestic disputes happen we get a notification from the police so that we can address them as they arise. When you see a disturbance we ask that you call the police so that I am made aware. We do not allow people to park on sidewalks, fire lanes etc. When we catch them we tag their vehicles and have them towed within the law amounted time. The furniture at the front of the property is 99 times not from us but the surrounding apartments. I personally have made people when I catch them put it back into their trucks and take it back over to their community across the street. I am confused at how you decided that "management has decided none of this is their issue". I have to be ...
informed of these issues to take care of them and not on social sites. If you are having problems you are welcome to come into the office and make us aware so that we can address these. I want all my residents to feel comfortable in their home and my door is always open. All prospects are informed that our homes don't have a washer and dryer connection prior to move in. By Fair Hosing laws I am not allowed to tell anyone that they cannot be in the parking lots. If you are having an issue please inform their parents and if that does not help come to me and I will do my best to help within the guidelines of the law.

  • Great place

    December 6, 2017
I have lived here for 7 years and have loved it. Management is great and actually listens to our needs. As far as the review given by that person in number 7 do not listen to her. She smokes so I know why her apartment smells like smoke. I know that she and her neighbors were friends and they had a falling out and now she wants everyone to believe it is the apartments fault. Management has tried to help them resolve their differences, I know because unit 7 told me she did. I have been in unit ...
7's apartment and she has nothing in there to absorb any noise and when she called the police on unit 8 they could not do anything because they could not hear noise either. Our manager is struggling with cancer and she came out at 11:30 one night for unit 7 and there was no noise to hear because my neighbor told me that she had to press her ear to the wall just to hear a small sound of base. So I do not find it at all unsafe here. As far as the break-ins, it was 2 - 13 year old's from an adjoining apartment complex and they were caught and they also did not break into cars they went into cars that were unlocked and took change and junk and it happened not just at our place but all the homes and apartment places up and down the road. Now she told me that management is letting her out of her lease , so why she is bashing a place I love living at is beyond me. So anyone reading her comment please take it with a grain of salt because unfortunatley it is her (unit 7)that has caused alot of problems out here between neighbors. This is a great place and the staff really cares about their residents. Lawn care is loud...blowers are not quiet, so what a stupid remark to make.

  • There are better places to rent from

    December 5, 2017
This was my first apartment in Johnson City, needless to say, this was the worst mistake ever. I lived in apartment #7 which was one of the updated 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartments. The updates were cheaply done, for instance, you could see the patch work in the walls, the drawers in the kitchen did not pull out properly, the paint would peel from being painted over multiple times and the air filter was completely filthy. On top of that, people would maintenance your apartment without notice and ...
just walk in and the lawn care was so loud. I ended up having them terminate my 12 month lease after 5 months due to my neighbor in #8 was EXTREMELY loud. She would play music upwards until midnight and management would not handle the issue. Her guest were just as loud and disrespectful towards me just because I would ask if they would turn down the music because I had class/homework to finish. During the day the music was much worse and could hear word for word what song she was listening to. Again, management would not handle any of this and let it continue. In my 5 months here, there has also been 2 times that peoples car were broken into and their stuff thrown in the street. Lastly, I would come home after being at school and my entire apartment would smell like weed and cigarettes from the other renters. Other than all of that, the apartment was conveniently located to downtown Johnson City and to ETSU but there are better places to rent from in this area.

  • Great Place to Live

    January 26, 2017
Lived here 4 years while in college. Great people work here and neighbors were good. Wished it had washer and dryers in units but laundry room is large enough. Enjoyed my stay here.
