Ultra-Shabby Chic Labor of Love
July 21, 2015The 17-23 ft living room had me at "hello," except it wasn't a hello...it was an uber creaky wood floor (beautifully finished, might I add). "Who cares if I have to roll over my dishwasher and plug it into my sink?" I asked myself when I first moved in. Who cares that my sink shifts right or left every time I turn on the hot or cold water in my bathroom. "It's charming", I said. In all seriousness, I have lived there for 3 years. There is something about the place that has hooked into me and ...won't let me go. Maybe it is the fact that this was my first apartment in the city I grew up in, only a few blocks from the house that i lived in for 22 beautiful years. Maybe it is the friendly neighbors. Sam, the older gentlemen that dwells below me delivered a CD of himself singing a Christmas song on New Years Eve to my door one winter. He has lived there longer than anyone and always has a smile on his face. Maybe, it is him. The two beautiful french doors that open my bedroom into the expansive living room are my favorite. The window that opens into my shower (a very Cinderella moment for me) make each and every shower a magical one. Okay, I will stop- I'm being hyperbolic. I think it can all be summed up in saying- I still don't care that I have to roll over my dishwasher. My kitchen, my livingroom, my bedroom, and my closet (the second bedroom) are all spaces that I love and I feel- love me right back.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
