Nice Countertops, Bad Everything Else
August 29, 2019The first red flag should have been at my lease signing, when the leasing agent, Kenneth, left me waiting alone at the apartment for over an hour at signing. I first awoke at around 2AM a few weeks into a furious pounding at my front door. I was scared awake and ran to the door, thinking there was an emergency. No one was there. I went back to bed. Then it happened again a few hours later around 4. Again, they were gone. This happened over and over, and I got more frightened each time. The ...person was always gone before I could reach the door. One night they stayed. They continued beating on my door and jiggling the handle as I yelled out to ask who it was and what they wanted. Then they started scratching at the door like an animal. It was terrifying. I called the police, who stayed on the phone with me and arrived in under 5 minutes, but the person fled. They left, and I swear it happened AGAIN a few hours later. I dreaded being alone in the apartment at night. Mgmtdismissed me saying that they had never personally heard of anything like that happening. Weeks later, my downstairs neighbor began having loud college house parties. The noise was no loud that the pictures in my apartment literally rattled on the walls. This happened almost weekly, always late and often on days when I needed to be up at 5 for work. To make matters worse, my neighbor began pounding on MY floor late at night, waking me up. I tried to go back to bed, but finally one night he drunkenly confronted me by beating on my front door, waking me up and screaming obscenities at me. Again, I was dismissed and promised they had never, ever had any problems. On June 27th there was the loudest house party yet. After emailing Kenneth multiple times he came to the apartment and confirmed that the noise level was unlivable. He promised to confront the other tenant and make things right. However I doubt that he actually did anything because this time period coincides with the school year and I think the person was just on break and out of town. I think this because the school year has begun again and the parties and noise are back. Now mgmt gives me the same line about how wonderful the complex is. I have also welcomed my new friends: bugs. In my coffee maker, in my tub, in my linens, in my bed. Kenneth assured me this is just normal apartment living. The large, roach-looking things are the worst because they are so ugly, but at least the spiders have moved in to help keep them in check.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
highly recommended
August 24, 2018I wanted a place in the highlands to be close to my favorite restaurants and to be able to hang out with my friends without having to drive. I almost overlooked this property because of a lack of reviews (the only review on this site wasn't stellar), but after checking out the property it had obviously been redone/updated since the last review. The apartment was awesome. I would have stayed longer if I didn't move to be closer to work. Pro tip: if you don't mind parking on the street (like I ...did) you can save a little per month on the parking fee. Overall I would and have recommended Highland Flats.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Great location, needs remodeling
August 14, 2015We're all looking for the great Louisville dream, and this location certainly has everything at your fingertips. However, this place could definitely stand to be remodeled. The outside looks shabby, and although the insiders are clean and bed-bug-free, there is more than a little wear and tear. I think the last time the place had new countertops and tile was 1987. Nevertheless, there was a new stove, fridge, and air conditioner. The rent is a bit much, but the electric bill was only $55 and ...I ran that air conditioner constantly at top speed with two extra fans for a whole month. Special note: The neighbors can appear questionable at first, but soon enough you'll notice the community of elders that has banded together here to form a kind of surveillance unit -- so no worries about any for real creeps. Out of town people will love this place for a relocation, and there's always off-street parking spots free, so long as you don't need a posh place, this one might do you.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
