Stay Away for the Short-Term or Hope for Change for the Long-Term
January 22, 2025I have lived here for several years with several building management teams. I would currently recommend not living at SkyHouse. SkyHouse is best known for its views and its safety. However, it no longer the same luxury standards set by previous building managements. This appears to be in-large part as Greystar changes the strategy held by previous managements. The management team has struggled with their communication of severe maintenance issues (including the commonly known elevator woes) -- ...which do not appear to be close to being resolved despite it being a several month issue. The management team also appears to be struggling with the frustration expressed by current residents, incredibly protective rather than being conversational about issues. It is one thing to be upset, it is another to not be hospitable. Greystar has also begun to focus on catering to shorter-term stays -- including allowing AirBnb hosting and a new feature of a "guest stay." The building is forgo-ing cleaning carpets on floors in pursuit of new non-carpeted flooring and is making changes to the clubroom area that will impact quality of life. The building feels stripped of the qualities that made it a great place to stay, in-lieu for a cheapened approached intent on generating money. It is evident that Greystar has a vision however that vision does not look out for current residents or residents in the short-term.Property Manager Responded
February 11, 2025Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and share your concerns! I want to share that the elevator repairs have been completed and are currently being tested for safety. We want to make sure that everything here is safe and ready for resident use, so rather than rush the repair for a quick fix, we prefer a long-term sustainable option for safety and longevity. I know the downtime has been frustrating, but we do appreciate your patience. I apologize that you feel the scope of our current renovation project does not fit your current lifestyle -- we are replacing the flooring in the hallways to make the building cleaner and more appealing. The furniture replacement in the clubroom and new coffee machine will only enhance the space and certainly not take away from it. I do also want to touch on the AirBnB rentals that you mentioned. We only are allowed a certain percentage per number of units on site, and all renters are vetted and screened the same way that residents are. There ...truly is no difference in status between those that live here and the few times a year that someone would stay here short term. It also allows a great option for someone to use their apartment as a rental platform should they need to break their lease early. Do Not Move Here!!!
January 14, 2025As a current resident, I cannot stress enough how far this place has declined. It is way worse than I ever expected it to get, I wish I could give negative stars. 1. The Building is Filthy The hallways are some of the dirtiest and most disgusting I’ve ever seen and such unsightly stains everywhere you look. It’s embarrassing to have guests over and make them walk through such unclean conditions. There is one cleaning person on staff who is always in the lobby "vacuuming" —but nothing ever looks ...clean. It seems like she is just pretending to clean, as no area has seen a vacuum or proper cleaning in months. 2. Amenities Are a Joke Most of the amenities are broken and have been since I moved in. Even the ones that “work” are frustrating to use. For example, the upstairs TVs have about 10 remotes, but none of them actually function with the TVs. Instead of fixing these persistent issues that residents repeatedly raise, management has added a new, completely useless amenity that you have to pay extra for. 3. Guest Parking Was Removed One of the main reasons we chose to live here was the access to guest parking. Mid-lease, they took it away with no real solution other than telling residents to “contact NC Park.” This shows a complete lack of accountability and disrespect for residents. 4. Broken Elevators and Long Wait Times Prepare to add an extra 15 minutes to your schedule just to leave the building. One elevator has been broken for ages, and the remaining one is so overburdened that there’s often a line in the lobby. The other day, I had to wait through multiple elevator trips before I could finally get on. 5. Management is Nonexistent The property management consistently fails to address issues. They don’t fix anything, they take away amenities, and they make false promises about renovations and hallway repainting that never happen. Their disregard for residents’ concerns is beyond frustrating. Final Thoughts I, along with several other residents, will definitely be moving out after our lease due to the poor management and the rapidly deteriorating living conditions. At this rate, I’d be shocked if anyone renews their lease. To management: Step up and start taking responsibility for your property and your residents’ experiences.Property Manager Responded
January 21, 2025Hi Trey! Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and share your concerns. As we just took over in August, we have all of these replacements and renovations that were in the works from the last management company planned for this year. We have also engaged an elevator consultant to come up wi th the best course of action for our busy elevators. In regard to the amenities, all of them are working. In fact, since our takeover in August, we have replaced the pool heater, successfully applied for a year-round pool permit and are the only rooftop, heated, year-round saltwater pool in the city and repaired the fire pit. We are also switching to a better coffee provider in March and have even added a new amenity to the property, a Guest Suite, last month. Of course, should you have a specific concern that we can address and fix for you, please let us know. We are in the office every day except for Sunday. Thanks again and we appreciate you being a resident!

I am happy to report that since Greystar has taken over, we have gotten the fire pit operational again, replaced the pool heater and successfully received our year-round pool permit and worked with the parking garage company to get the gate arms operational again. We are also under contract for renovations on Level 23 and will soon be replacing the flooring in the hallway, in addition to putting some fresh paint on the walls. For the elevators, we have engaged a consultant to hopefully get those up and running 24/7! December 3, 2024This apartment building is in an amazing location, surrounded by excellent restaurants, a square with lots of activities, and walking distance to the Amtrak station. It also has beautiful views and an incredible lobby with excellent concierge service. It is an older building so you can’t expect everything to be perfect and up-to-date as you would see in a new apartment building. October 7, 2024I have lived here 1 and 1/2 years. I love the convenient location and the views from Skyhouse. We have a lovely Skydeck, with 2 grills and a firepit for winter. However, the building desperately needs refreshing. The carpets are disgustingly dirty. Over the past couple of months, the elevators have had paint dribbled on the floor and walls/doors are scuffed badly. The TV in the yoga/pilates room has not worked for several months so you cannot stream workouts there. I could go on, but ...hopefully you get the picture.Property Manager Responded

I am excited to share that we have engaged a consultant to assist with keeping our elevators up and running 24/7. I am happy to report that since Greystar has taken over, we have gotten the fire pit operational again, replaced the pool heater and successfully received our year-round pool permit and worked with the parking garage company to get the gate arms operational again. We are also under contract for renovations on Level 23 and will soon be replacing the flooring in the hallway, in addition to putting some fresh paint on the walls. Again, thank you for sharing your concerns and we hope that these refreshes will increase value in your experience here at Skyhouse!

Area getting much worse, leasing staff terrible.
February 27, 2023Moore Square used to be a great area and now the homeless and gang population has gotten really unsafe, especially for single females. The leasing staff is terrible and rude. There are MUCH better apartment complexes and high-rises in better areas where the staff actually care about the residents.Property Manager Responded

NOT a suitable environment for young professionals
June 10, 2017Overall, I have had considerably mixed feelings about my two years at Skyhouse Raleigh. The views are great, without a doubt. Concierge and the staff, in general, are all very friendly and helpful for the most part, including the maintenance staff. However, there are problems with noise pollution. I have had my share of rude neighbors who constantly *slam* their doors and have lead feet. I have heard some horror stories from another resident who ended up having to have the police called on ...someone who was a constant disturbance despite submitting several complaints beforehand. It should have never gotten to this point for them. It can be severe in colder climates. The frigid temperatures seem to cause openings in the balcony doors, which lets in a lot of outside noise pollution. That is on top of the elevators which can too be loud at times (to the point you can feel them vibrating the walls). The portal software which is used to send rent payments and submit maintenance requests is buggy. I have had my share of issues with the software, most recently where I could not log in to send my payment properly and ended up getting stuck with a late fee because of it, then told that I could no longer provide payments using the portal system. My rent has increased significantly since I first moved in. The first time it increased, I was offered the same free months rent incentive if I signed a lease for another year, or a 6-month lease with no increase in rent. This year, I was told I would not be given the same offer, and on top of that, if I was to opt for a 6-month lease this year my rent would be increased $100/month. Skyhouse staff have started hosting pool parties and the likes again, which produce noise so loud it is constantly vibrating my walls in every room of my apartment all throughout the day. If this becomes a problem like it was my first year at Skyhouse again, I plan to terminate my lease and seek residency elsewhere. So overall, very mixed feelings. There are times when I have loved it here, but now it has become incredibly frustrating. If you're into constant partying and don't mind constant noise and the smell of pot lingering in your apartments occassionally, this could be a great place for you. But if you're a young professional truly trying to go somewhere with your life, I would recommend looking elsewhere. This was NOT the kind of environment I was promised, and I've started to regret moving here again this year.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
