Do not move here
July 27, 2024The only pro of this property is location. Let’s open the con list: 1) Maintenance is beyond poor. You have to call multiple times to get anything done. 2) The management is an extortion racket. I lost my access fob a week before all the doors went automatic (app operated). They still charged me 75$ for a new fob which I only needed for 2 weeks. 3) Rent increase is exorbitant for the service provided. 4) They are doing some kinda building renovation and currently I have a construction worker ...right outside my bedroom window playing music. It’s a Saturday and I am recovering from Covid, so I could use some rest. These activities can be done on a weekday. 5) Fire alarm is way too sensitive. It goes off whenever I use the stove or the oven. 6) There are false building-wide fire alarms a few times every month. It’s happened in the middle of the night 2 times in last few months. 7) The AC can either be set to Heating or Cooling. So you have this period in Fall and Spring when the apartment will be super hot. 8) Paper thin walls, no noise isolation. 9) Trash room area is extremely smelly and poorly maintained. 10) Some mornings there’s a smell of vomit in the staircases. I feel with the sharp rent increase I am paying way too much to have to deal with these issues. Pay that 200$ extra to find another apartment. This is not worth the money.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Horrible management
September 22, 2023The only pro to this apartment complex is the location but that is the only positive. The amenities are below average and half of the “amenities” they provide do not work or are broken (pool table has broken/missing prices, grills in courtyard don’t work, hot tub was cold). Dealing with the management team at this complex was an absolute NIGHTMARE and I cannot emphasize more how frustrating it had been living in this apartment complex. We lived here for a year and had issues as soon as we moved ...in with them losing our initial money order for first months rent and telling us it was on us and there was nothing they could do. After MONTHS and reaching out to corporate, we finally got everything resolved. After our lease was ending, we were moving to a different apartment within the complex. We found an apartment that worked out well, applied, were approved and had a fully signed lease. I then found out from Washington gas that the current tenant was not leaving. The apartment complex notified me a “mistake” had been made and that apartment was never available. We had emailed them several times with no response and even with a fully signed and executed lease, they did NOTHING to rectify this issue despite a binding contract. They told us there was another apartment in the same floor plan available but it was almost $1000 more a month than what we signed a lease for and they refused to price match what we signed a lease for. And now several months later, that same exact apartment they refused to price match is still available for even less than what we were asking for. We even toured and talked to other complexes in the area and they could not believe they did not price match what we signed for. They do not care about anyone or their tenants whatsoever. When you look at all of the negative reviews of this complex you will see a generic response telling you to contact them regarding your issue, however they will continue to completely ignore you and will not help you in anyway shape or form. “customer service is the most important thing we do” they wrote in response to a review but considering they can’t even follow through to a contract, this is not the case. Also the majority of positive reviews are people who have just toured or just moved in, and the negative reviews are people who have actually lived here. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else there are many apartment complexes in the areaRead MoreReview from Apartments.com
Good location, paperthin walls, bad management
July 3, 2023I lived in these apartments for two years, and in that time management changed three times. Alliegent-Carter is by far the worst. They are difficult to get ahold of, terrible at proactive communication and simply don't seem to care. Over the Christmas Holiday the fire alarm went off four times, yet there was never an explanation why. When we moved out, they mailed our security deposit to our old address... the apartment we moved out of. When we rented the community room, we confirmed the ...reservation THREE times with management and still were told we needed to reserve it when we were setting to up the event. The apartment itself was nice, spacious, and well laid out, but we could hear everything happening above us, which included music at 9am and children running around. The oven was unusable without setting the fire alarm off. The apartments weren't very secure either, I could name three different places where you didn't need a fob to get in, and sometimes people would sleep in the stairwell. It was an easy walk to Twinbrook at least.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Good location, fair facilities, poor operation
June 26, 2023I have lived here for almost 3 years, but I wish to rate with minus 5 stars. The location is good. Facilities are fair. Operation is horrible, especially the leasing team. Although maintenance requests will be submitted online, it is luck that they come in a timely manner, but still it is manageable. The worst thing is the leasing team. Basically, you cannot reach the leasing office. Emails are never responded, you can only leave a message by phone, and calls are never returned. When I tried to ...visit their office in person to speak with them, I was told I could not meet with them because I did not have an appointment, and when I asked how to make an appointment, I was told to make an appointment via email. How am I supposed to make an appointment via email with someone who never returns my emails? I spent several months in this situation when my lease contract was up for renewal, with being ignored for more than several months even after the existing lease was expired. I needed to spend a few months without a valid contract. Since a valid lease contract serves as proof of residency, this often leads to all sorts of inconveniences for foreigners like me. Of course, they did not listen to such claims at all. Even after I finally moved out of the residence, they continued to charge me additional fee that they had once confirmed were unnecessary. I countered with evidence that they had confirmed they did not need the fee, but they would not apologize for their carelessness or revise their charges. I am attempting to approach their upper management regarding this matter. As stated above, the leasing team is lazy, careless and lacks minimal respect for the residents. However, other than these factors, the location is good and the facilities are fair. I will try to convince myself that this one star is for those other factors. By the way, It seems odd to me that since the management company changed, there has been a rapid increase in positive reviews, even though the service has been downgraded.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Save yourself from the headache
February 2, 2023Please don’t waste your time here. If I could give this place a half a star I would. The ONLY “perk” about living here is the location. That’s. It. Management is awful. No way or form of contacting the management office of any issues. All calls go to straight to an outside office and yet the supposed phone number to call to the management office does not work. Absolutely no outdoor parking or else your car will get towed (and trust me they will tow your car). Parking directly in front of the ...apartment will get your car towed. You have to pay for visitors parking (PER DAY) which I find so outrageous for what rent is. Parking in the garage is $65 a month with an additional $25 if you have 2 cars. Fire alarms are constantly going off so be ready to see the fire trucks at least 1-2x’s during the week (I truly wish I was kidding). The “mailroom” is a complete disaster. There is absolutely no such thing as organization so good luck going through everyone’s mail trying to find your package. There is absolutely no maintenance or upkeep to these apartments, everything is falling apart yet you get ridiculous “fees” added each month to your rent. Do yourself a favor and save yourself from the headache I personally went through living here.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Don't move here. I wish I didn't.
January 3, 2023The location and the unit itself is nice. Management company is so unbelievably bad that it doesn't matter. The fire alarm goes off every other week and there has been zero communication to residents about why that is or what is being done about it. I'm on the autism spectrum and sudden loud noises don't go well with me. The call box outside the building hasn't been working for a year and a half. There is graffiti on a stairwell door that has been there since I moved in 18 months ago. The ...stairwell next to my unit constantly smells like weed. The hallway door outside my unit is broken and lets in tons of cold air, which was particularly great with my heating system not working on the coldest day of the year. The heating system has since been fixed, but now the A/C won't work and my apartment won't go below 74 degrees. I can't sleep at this temperature. It's been three days since I called the emergency hotline and there's no sign of progress. If I could leave here today I would, but I'm stuck until August, so I hope nobody else gets into this situation. It's safe to say that this apartment is not worth what I pay for it, and I recommend people look elsewhere.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Do Not Be Deceived
October 9, 2022We moved here in May 2022. I was so excited as the tour of the facilities was very promising. We thought at the time this will be a great place to live after selling our home as we downsize anticipating retirement in 2-3 years. To say it has been a HUGE disappointment is an understatement! After two months of our move-in the building was sold/transferred to a new management. Resolution of a maintenance request is of very poor quality. The water fountain in the center court has never worked ...since we have been here and is full of green algae. There was a period of weeks that the fire alarm was not working in the building. It has truly been a disappointment. We cannot wait for our lease to expire so we can move. It is of greater disappointment that we cannot break our lease as the new management is not providing the services we applied for at the time we signed the lease.Property Manager Responded
October 12, 2022We appreciate your insight and feedback. Knowing that you have this impression of our services is disappointing and we'd like to provide a better experience moving forward. Don’t bother applying
June 13, 2022My partner and I applied for an apartment here and ended up being led on for over three weeks and eventually denied for no reason after paying a $200 nonrefundable deposit. I will say everyone we interacted with was very nice however we were told that our proof of income was insufficient and needed to provide more information 4 times. We provided everything they asked for and it was never enough. They finally asked for one last item by the end of business day and we did just that. They didn’t get ...back to us so we called two days later for them to say they pulled our application with no further explanation. We wasted three and a half weeks of our time and $200 for the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I called to ask for an explanation from a leasing manage and received no call back.Property Manager Responded
October 28, 2022I am sorry you were not happy with your experience. Please reach out to the office if you still have questions. We recently took over ownership (Allegiant-Carter) and would love to answer questions and help you find a new home. Sincerely, The Residences at Congressional Village Team

Great place
January 19, 2021I lived at Congressional Village for a few months in 2017 and it was a great place. The location is the best thing about this place. It is close to everything you'll need. The metro stop, Twin Brook is a 7 minute walk away, and you are close to Safeway, CVS, Target, and Bestbuy. The property is kept very clean. No mice or rat. Neighbors were quiet and respectful. I enjoyed living here.Review from Apartments.com
I am glad I chose to move here.
March 30, 2020Having lost my husband of 49 years recently, I decided to move to an apartment. I looked at about 8-10 apartment complexes, but none other met my requirements. I wanted a 3-bedroom apartment with walk-in shower stall in the main bathroom, washer-dryer in the apartment, spacious living and dining space and an open kitchen, and easy access to covered garage. I also wanted wide, clean, lighted hallways. Residences at Congressional Villages met all these criteria, so deciding on it was easy. On ...top of that, the Leasing Manager and his team were extremely courteous, polite, answered all my questions to my satisfaction, and gladly took me around a second time when I realized I hadn't carefully looked at something. I have been living here since early February 2020. The front office continues to be courteous, polite and helpful, listens to my requests politely and immediately takes care of those. An example: The washing machine was too loud, and a new one was installed within two days of my request. The maintenance team is excellent and very efficient. The concierge is very courteous and friendly. I live on the top, or 4th, floor, and like the fact that I can easily find parking on my level. I don't hear my neighbors at all, and love that solitude. There are so many excellent eating places and great shops within walking distance, and thats a big plus for me. I am glad I moved here.Property Manager Responded

Horrible place, worse staff and even worse upper management, Walk Away
April 23, 2019Do not move here, this place will only do one thing for you and that is to make you question how some humans can be so incompetent and simple. Staff rude as can be, garage is a mess, towing is abused, apartments are infested, not kept clean at all. Packages are always lost and managent aloows their employee to disrespect tenants and lets them keep thier job to contnue this trend. What a JOKE!Review from Apartments.com
LOOK ELSEWHERE
January 7, 2019If you are looking for an apartment, LOOK ELSEWHERE. I lived in this property for over 3 years; it was not great three years ago, and unfortunately it just got worse. The property is old compared to others in the area, but it is mostly just worn out and it is poorly maintained. The Assistant Manager is combative and rude to the point of ignorance. It does not matter what you try to explain to her; she is always right and won't listen. Her customer service skills leave lots to be desired and ...it is hard to believe that upper management is ignorant to this an keeps her in that position. Overall, I do not think management really cares about their customer service or look and feel of the property. I have never seen anyone from management walk the property to identify items needing repair or improvements. Many items have been in disrepair for years. Here is a list of the items that management would be able to identify if they did periodic basic property walk throughs. There is a broken parking light post near parking lot 2 (Adjacent the hotel) that was broken two years ago, hallway carpets significantly stained in most of the property, reset light fixtures in the hallways broken or hanging, many of the doors to the buildings do not close properly (safety issue), landscape is poorly kept most of the time, rear of the property (service road) area is in disrepair, dog owners are not forced to pick up after their pets, hallway wall paint damage in many areas throughout the buildings, floors between levels in the apartments creek when tenants walk on them (unbearable if you leave below), several flooding incidents (mostly ground floor level – one apartment flooded three times before fixed), tenants wait a week or more for light bulb replacements and then replaced with incorrect light bulbs, etc. There are mice that can sneak under the front door – I had to stuff garbage bags under the door in order to keep mice and other bugs out. Many of the window blinds are broken and the windows are hard to open. My kitchen sink bubbles up sometimes when the tenants above are draining their sinks. Don’t be fooled by some of the front office looks. They just painted the entrance sign because the letters of the property name were falling off. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this property to anyone. If you want to live in a nice place that you won't be embarrassed to show, and you want to be treated with respect by management, don't live here.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
