Consider All Costs Before Renting
July 18, 2016I've lived in multiple complexes around Houston. This is one of the nicest overall but there are some negatives that have me considering moving. Positives: - New, clean complex - Lots of amenities - Friendly office staff - Nice club house - Neighbors are mostly quiet - Nice pool area - Nice neighborhood - Direct access to Goforth Park - Valet trash pickup Negatives: - Monthly rent is high. Considering the decreasing number of renters in a market over saturated with available apartments, you'd ...think the rent would be a bit cheaper. - The gym should be better maintained. During the tour, I was led to believe that the open area fitness room could be used for DVD fitness. While you have the floor space, you can't play a DVD on the TV - the phrasing they used in the tour was misleading. - I wish they paid more attention to security. The complex is gated so cars will follow others in – can’t help that. The coded pedestrian gate at the back of the complex was broken for an unsettling amount of time and the handle falls off very easily. There’s a security guard that cruises around in a truck sometimes but I’m not sure how much of a deterrent he is - his truck doesn’t indicate that he’s security. - Guest parking is shrinking. More people are using their garages for storage and parking in the open spots. This takes spaces from residents who don't have garages and guests. Other complexes I've lived in have been better about enforcing that residents with garages must park their car in the garage. My one major complaint is the fact that they charge for standard maintenance. In the ten years I’ve been a renter, I've never lived in an apartment that charged you for upkeep of their property outside of rent. I was shocked to be charged $10 for a light bulb replacement. If I had known this would be the case, I probably would not have signed a lease here. I think it's ridiculous considering the monthly rent is already so high. Some people told me this is normal, but none of my past complexes have charged me for this. I have seen quite a few people moving out. I'm not sure if the rent was too high to renew or if they were unhappy with the complex. It's an unusually large number of move-outs in a short period of time in my experience. It's a nice complex but I'm not sure yet if I'm going to renew when my lease is up later this year. Having to pay for maintenance on top of a high monthly rent is a huge deal to me - those costs add up very quickly.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Luxury, Location, and Convenience
September 24, 2015The apartment stuff are all nice! They are prompt and professional. I love my new apartment, I have been here since the end of April 2015 and I just love it here. There is a lake behind the apartment complex very beautiful views. The amenities and club house are the best! Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. I enjoy the location of the apartment complex easy for freeway access. The apartment itself is beautiful all updated appliance. By far the best apartment complex I ever lived in!Review from Apartments.com
Leasing Office Tricks You to Coming in Office With Promotions
September 17, 2015Leasing office will tell you they have lots of units available on promotion to get you to come visit. When you come they only have a couple units available on promotion even though they have lots of the same floor plan in other buildings. The building I wanted to be in cost $200 more per month for the same floorplan. I felt like the leasing agent didn't really care about what unit best suited me because she had to stick to only the units that were approved for promotion. It makes no sense if ...the same floor plan is available in another building why it wouldn't also be on promotion. Disappointed.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
