Perfectly nestled at the southern tip of New Jersey is Atlantic City, a resort city famous for its top of the range casinos, prime real estate, and elegant beaches. Benjamin Franklin famously described the area occupied by Atlantic City as a key tapped on both ends. "Atlantic City was incorporated from parts of Galloway and Egg Harbor municipalities, in May 1854.  Dr. Jonathan Pitney, a physician, and a South Jersey native, is famously considered as the ""father of Atlantic City.""  He envisioned to develop a ""medical retreat""  on Absecon Island, the area occupied by the city today. He and his partners proposed building a resort town to Philadelphia railroad executives who bought into his idea that sea air and salty water held curative properties.  The 17 square mile stretch of pristine beachfront in Absecon Island still prospers to date."

How do I get around town?

Transit options in Atlantic City are diverse and accessible.  Even without a car, you can get around easily in the city. The Atlantic City Bus Terminal connects much of the city linking it directly to New York. Klein Transportation is also helpful as it provides direct access to various resorts, hotels, and casinos within the city. The New Jersey Transit train is also another available option for moving around and for connecting to Philadelphia. The Atlantic City International Airport also serves the city. All of these options are easily accessible and all within the city.

What is the Atlantic City commute like?

Atlantic City is intricately interconnected by over 103 miles of standard paved roads, which are all well managed and controlled to maximize the efficiency of the city's traffic flow. The main roadways serving the town and linking it to the neighboring cities are the Atlantic City Expressway, the US 30, also known as the White Horse Pike, and the US 322, known as the Harding Highway.

Atlantic City receives its daily and hourly updates from a wide range of radio and TV stations, most notably Independent TV, Justice Network TV, Daystar TV, Kool FM, Active Rock FM, and Sports Betting Talk AM Radio Station. There are also some popular newspapers and magazines such as Atlantic City Insiders, Atlantic City Weekly newspaper and The Press of Atlantic City paper.

Being a prime resort city, Atlantic boasts a variety of museums, cultural and recreational centers that one can indulge. All residents live in close proximity to numerous casino resorts and beach hotels, which feature various water sports, diving and powerboat rides. These resorts also feature regular concerts from world-famous artists. Moreover, this is one of the few cities where casino gambling is legalized and as such features, extensive sports betting. The sports and recreational sector is also active and stages major interstate and international matches.

Atlantic hosts some popular annual shows and contests such as antique and concept car shows and musical, cultural festivals. The city is home to the Miss America Pageant, an annual two-day event that features global entrants for the grand beauty contest. The legendary five and a half mile Boardwalk and its museum hall is also a point of outdoor interest that one can visit. Various orchestra venues and social halls are also accessible.
