It's Friday night, the apartment fridge is empty and you've got a hankering for that most refreshing of libations - crisp, frothy, full-bodied beer. And while margaritas are seemingly slung from every bar stoop within earshot, a good draft can be hard to find. Well, gather your best buds and prepare for some premo suds at Opal Divine's on 6th street. Not exactly a traditional 'Irish' ale house, Opal's nevertheless has the speakeasy feel down pat. Well-scuffed wooden floors mirror the darkened paneling, while earth-toned green and browns complete the comfortable surroundings. A large outdoor patio welcomes four legged friends to join their masters on those dog days of summer, and if you're lucky you might just catch some refreshing mist breezing by from the various cool-down machines lining the block. But forget the ambiance (which can be noisy on the weekends) - here it's all about the beer. With over twenty-five local and imported draughts on tap, ranging from local staple Lone Star to personal fave Harp, there should to be a taste for almost any thirst palate. Various weekly specials bring the pints down as low as $2 per, which means a night on the town before the rent is due is still an achievable task. For non-ale fans, Opal's also offers an impressive array of Single Malt scotch as well as a globe-spanning martini menu. And regardless of your thirst quencher of choice, make sure you order the house fries - thick, spiced and tangy, they are constant 'best-of' award winning spuds well worthy of the hype.
