Summer can vary widely in temperature during the day, from warm, sunny weather to cool, even frosty breezes. Indian summer is a marker of the fall season in Bend with dry, mild days and cooler nights.

" Bend is served by Roberts Field airport in nearby Redmond, with regional connections and direct flights to Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City and San Francisco among other cities. The Bend Hawthorne Transit Center serves as a hub for the Cascades East Transit center with inner city bus connections. A BNSF main train line also runs through the city, but is mainly used for industrial rail traffic."

The city is located on the intersection of US Route 97, running north to south across Oregon, and US Route 20, running west to east across the state. Route 97 forms an expressway in Bend, known as the Bend Parkway. Century Drive Highway No. 372 also caters to Bend residents with access to Mount Bachelor.
