Burlington has a humid climate. The warm season ranges from late May through mid-September. High temperatures normally peak in the low 80s and low temperatures in the 60s. There is no real dry season due to the amount of forest density. The cold season runs from early December through late March, with high temperatures averaging in the mid-20s, and low temperatures in the teens. Inland, there are rarely temperatures below zero. Substantial snowfall is rare. The annual snowfall averages 83 inches.
How do I get around town?
Traveling in Burlington by car is no problem. There’s ample parking with easy access to shops, theaters and restaurants. Many of the downtown attractions are located on pedestrian-only streets. There’s plenty of public transportation with bus lines going from one end of town to the other. There are also plenty of bike trails, although due to the hilly terrain, it isn’t always the easiest way to go.
What is the Burlington commute like?
Interstate Hwys. 189 and 89 outskirt Burlington. U.S. Routes 2 and 7 give you access in the town limits. Vermont Route 127 is a limited-access highway, giving you access to the North End of the city. Travel within the city itself is easy, although some traffic is limited to pedestrians only. This works well for shopping areas.

You’ll find a diverse array of media to meet your needs in Burlington. The most popular paper in the area is the Burlington Free Press.
