While you can use a car to get around, there are public bus transportation services provided by Eureka Transit Service for movement within the city. For those who wish to connect to areas outside Eureka City, Redwood Transit System provides bus transportation for such needs. There is also a coastal train station located in Martinez, California. Arcata-Eureka Airport, located 24 kilometers from the city, is a full service airport that effectively serves Eureka City. Other airports that provide private and charter services are Eureka Municipal Airport and Murray Field.

Apart from Redwood Highway which runs through the area, the U.S Route 101 connects Eureka to the North Coast Region. State Route 255 connects Eureka to the city of Arcata while State Route 299 connects US Route 101 to the northern part of Arcata City. With the vibrant economy of Eureka City, it is no surprise that the residents have, over the years, enjoyed the services of an equally robust media industry. The Times Standard prints almost 20,000 newspapers every day, providing both national and international news. Senior News is a monthly newspaper that covers issues of importance to seniors in the area. Eureka Broadcasting Co. Inc owns and operates some commercial radio stations including KEKA-FM, KWSW-AM and KINS-FM. Other radio stations are KHSU, KMUD and KKDS-LP.
