The first people who settled in Huntsville were Muscogee-speaking people around 1300 after traveling across the Mississippi River. In 1805, John Hunt, a Revolutionary War veteran and the namesake of the town, arrived and settled. Huntsville was incorporated in 1811, and it was the first incorporated town in the state of Alabama.

The traffic around town is generally not too bad, although it is fairly congested when construction is taking place to improve the roads.

September is the time for the Annual International Festival of North Alabama and the Big Spring Jam, and Con†Stellation is a science fiction convention that takes place every October."
