San Diego State is one of the largest universities in California. What differentiates SDSU from other universities is its focus on integrating students with faculty into real-life situations to prepare them for a global future. Playing in sports is important to many students, and SDSU, being in beautiful southern California, provides plenty of opportunity to play almost every sport including tennis, volleyball, track and field, soccer, swimming, golf, baseball, basketball and football. The Aztecs all are NCAA accredited teams. As part of any great university, SDSU provides many student organizations, including fraternities and sororities and over 200 groups involved in recreation, honors societies, multicultural groups and professional development clubs. The Student Activities and Campus Life office can guide you in your selection, and even in building your own group. In addition, a civic learning and community engagement department engages students with the greater San Diego community and the world. Leadership, global perspective and multicultural issues are addressed to help students take action and deal with local, national and worldwide matters. Student life is important to SDSU to enrich the lives of its graduates. The Office of Housing Administration of San Diego State University offers several on-campus dorms and residence halls for those who wish to live on-campus. Some may wish to live in an off campus San Diego apartment, of which many are available in the area. It can be a bit less restrictive than living in a dorm, where you can make your own hours and have more privacy.
