Explore San Diego
Balboa Park apartments have some of the most beautiful views of the city, and access to one of the most incredible common areas on the west coast. Balboa Park is the largest urban park in the US and home to 15 museums, an incredible zoo, gorgeous gardens and landscaping and renowned performing arts locations. Even if some San Diego apartments are more than 20 miles away from this awesome park, people come from a lot farther to check out this great place. The variety of museums and gardens is so vast that we cannot discuss in detail each one here, but the names, very indicative of their nature, are the San Diego Museum of Art, the Natural History Museum, the Ruben H. Fleet Science Museum and the Air and Space Museum, good for young and old San Diego apartment dwellers. Other amazing spots are the Automotive Museum, Hall of Champions Sports Museum, Model Railroad Museum, the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center and the Museum of San Diego History. From a cultural perspective, the Japanese Friendship Garden, the Centro Cultural de la Raza with Mexican, Latino and Chicano art and influences, the WorldBeat Center featuring African-American culture, and the Mingei International Museum displaying world art house their respective cultures. And the Marston House/Museum displays the home of former civic leader and merchant, George Marston, on five acres of elegantly landscaped land, possibly much like San Diego apartment complex landscaping of native California plants. For the specialty artist, Balboa Park hosts the Museum of Photographic Arts and the Timken Museum of Art. Diverse groups portray a wide range of performing arts to residents of Balboa Park apartments and the city at several venues on the site. Ballet, symphony, theater and live music performances can be seen at the spectacular Old Globe Theater and the Starlight Bowl. Admittance to the park grounds and to view the striking Botanical Building and the Spreckels Organ Pavilion (one of the world's largest outdoor organ) is free, with varying charges to the museums which are all not for profit. Residents of Balboa Park apartments can either buy a Balboa Passport to see all of the museums with a daily pass, or purchase a Stay-for-the-day pass which offers admission to four of the museums, not including the zoo. If you go on the first Tuesday of the month, check the Balboa Park website before you leave your apartment to see at which museum residents of San Diego apartments and other locals receive free admission on that day.
