Temple purchased 285 acres of land.á When he established the city, he envisioned a place where people could live in a community where they could afford to purchaseámoderate-priced homes. He helped the new community grow by petitioning the Pacific Electric Rail Company to extend rail service, integrating the city with Los Angeles and other neighboring communities.
