By 1910, railroads had been introduced, propelling the farming and ranching-dependent economy of the city. By the 1950s Wichita Falls was home to over 100 manufacturing companies, earning the nickname ‘Factory City’. Despite the two tornadoes that threatened the existence of Wichita Falls, it has risen to feature cultural diversity and contemporary life.

You can also take a trip to The Littlest Skyscraper to learn about its interesting history or choose to unwind at the Castaway Cove Waterpark on a hot day.

The Asian Festival is held to show the rich culture and heritage while The Autumn and Art is designed to celebrate world-class art. Automobilia Car Show & Street Party brings a collection of cars, motorcycles and mods to downtown Wichita in the summer. ICT FEST is a three-day music festival for people of all ages where more than 40 bands perform different genres of music.

Wichita Falls is home to Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, Lake Wichita Park, Museum of North Texas History, Kiwanis Park and Wichita Falls Recreation Department.
