Nashville Zoo apartment residents are surrounded by animals from around the world. That's because of the close proximity of the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere to nearby apartments. From amphibians to reptiles, to birds to mammals, so many species are to be seen here at the zoo. Of special interest to Nashville Zoo apartment residents are the Clouded Leopard cubs just available for viewing in September of 2009 at the "Critter Encounters" section of the park; the herd of Damara Zebras (with lighter brown and white stripes in addition to the typical black and white stripes) located with the park's eland and ostriches; and if you've got ants in your Nashville Zoo apartment, you could possibly use the services of the new giant anteaters at the Zoo, named Praim and Cezar. One of the most memorable locations of the zoo is the Gibbon Islands. Here, two hills are surrounded by a four foot moat that allows Nashville apartment residents to view the Gibbons and Siamang unobstructed by fences and gates. These swinging primates do not enter the water so you can feel secure from them scrambling across the moat to greet you. Along with all the animals is a beautifully restored plantation house which is called Grassmere which you may tour and compare to your Nashville apartment! Just six miles from downtown, the Zoo is great for an afternoon get away from the office or a Saturday event with friends from your Nashville Zoo apartments. Free parking makes up for the $14 adult admission price. The hours are March 15 to October 14 from 9 am to 6 pm and October 15 to March 14 open from 9 am to 4 pm. The Nashville Zoo is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, so take a break from your apartment lifestyle and visit the animals.
