October 29, 2024Horrible pest infestation problem. I lived in the apartments on Imboden street ( for reference) My neighbors all said they had pest problems as well. People would leave their furniture outside my door constantly, the washer and dryer was always broken. I had to ask constantly to get it fixed but it never did. I used to see my neighbors take their close to a laundry mat. I had to use other units laundry room. Eventually gave up and went to a laundry mat as well because theirs was broken too!! ...Overall if you were to believe any believe this one DO NOT LIVE HERE HORRIBLE.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Read this review prior to signing a lease!!!
September 28, 2023Safety: The door is consistently unlocked and/or broken. All a person has to do is yank on the door with a little extra strength to gain access. The apartment complex is located next to Alexandria Hospital. Although there is nothing wrong with the hospital's efforts to help this community's most vulnerable, there are many undomiciled people and people in green gowns (given to patients with psychiatric conditions) roaming the streets in this apartment community. I was chased to my car, catcalled a ...lot, and had people banging on the windows at the gym in an attempt to scare me. Lastly, ~1 block away from the apartment complex 4-5 men threw Molotov cocktails into the 7-Eleven on our street. Also, there is a more recent shooting at the other 7-Eleven, which is like 5 minutes away. I also watched my neighbors being arrested. Parking: We both opted to pay for 2x reserved spots. His reserved spot was across the street, under a tree, and almost always flooded. His car sat in ~0.5 feet of water so often that there was algae growing in the Spring and a permanent outline of the bottom half of his tires made out of mud and snow in the Fall/Winter. People often parked in our reserved spots forcing us to park elsewhere. If you are thinking, I pay $60 for a reserved spot...if it is taken, I can park elsewhere in the permitted, first-come first-serve spots just overnight...Wrong. You get towed. Smoke-free community: False: Multiple people in our apartment complex smoked. The smoke travels into your apartment almost 24 hours/day. Pest Problem: Although we are very clean and tidy people who lived on the second floor, we frequently had mice and cockroaches in our apartment. After notifying them about mouse droppings on the kitchen counters, we were informed of a hole behind the dishwasher connecting to the AC balcony door. Although they closed the hole, we saw ANOTHER mouse. They moved the stove this time and found ANOTHER even larger hole. Lease: Be aware that your lease automatically renews. As we let them know 52 days in advance that we were choosing to not renew our lease and move out when the lease ended we were charged $405.50. You will not get your security deposit back. They will charge you for the painting of your entire apartment ($294.67) even if you put up only one painting. Do not worry about cleaning prior to moving out. They hire a cleaning company that charges you $130.00 no matter the state of your apartment.Property Manager Responded
October 5, 2023Hello, thank you for sharing your experience at Foxchase. We appreciate the feedback you have provided. Your concern with a door access is something we want to resolve. Please put in a service request for repair even if it is for your building door. Any resident can request repairs as they are noticed in our community. Other matters of crime in our area is a police concern so please call 911 to have any incident recorded as a police matter. Please also meet with our Community Manager to help resolve the parking concerns you have faced. We have an outstanding maintenance team that can put in requests for pest control and in most cases finish a service request within 24 to 48 hours. Please put in a request for our third party exterminator to resolve your pest concerns. In Foxchase’s lease agreement it is indicated that a 60 day notice to vacate is required if a customer wishes to not renew their lease. In the event proper notice isn’t given appropriate fees will apply. Reminders about the ...required 60 day notice to vacate are shared with all residents at the time renewal offers are sent. We encourage all future residents to review their leasing documents prior to signing and strive to remain transparent on lease requirements by providing reminders when necessary. At the time of move out damages are documented and photographed. When an apartment is not left in good condition, damages are assessed and charged and are reflected in the final account statement. Move out fees and fees
September 26, 2023Do not move here unless you are prepared to pay several hundred dollars in move out costs. The language in the lease is very subjective regarding move out procedures. I loved Foxchase until I had to deal with them when moving out and it’s been a nightmare ever since. You also pay a lot of fees while living here. It’s cheaper to live in Arlington, right next to DC.Property Manager Responded
October 5, 2023Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback. Upon inspection of an apartment after a resident moves out charges are assessed and determined by the result of this inspection and appear in each resident’s final account statement. If damages need to be addressed these charges will be deducted from their security deposit. In Foxchase’s lease agreement all additional charges or fees are provided. We understand that allocated monthly expenses may vary for everyone. As such, we are extremely mindful to disclose all charges and fees with customers prior to signing a lease agreement. We would be happy to review these with you at any time. We would like to address your experience more directly but we would need your contact information. Please feel free to reach out to me at ICanHelp@aircommunities.comso we can discuss further. -Susan

Lovely area
July 24, 2023Honestly from Annandale apartments to here has been a tremendous upgrade. They actually take care of the apartments and community. If there’s ever an issue and you let them know they will help. They’re friendly and gotta love how it’s an area you feel safe. Everyone minds their own business no one bothers you. Good for a starter, not long-term
June 23, 2023It's a decent neighborhood. The rent is a bit high for such an old building/community, since there are pest control issues. The maintenance department is relatively response, but the adminisitrative office is no very available.Property Manager Responded
July 14, 2023Hello. Thank you for sharing your feedback. We encourage our residents to submit a service request for preventative pest treatments routinely and more if necessary. Our rent for each apartment is determined by market rates, the lease length, features of the apartment, location and the lease start date. We price our rent to be competitive with similar communities in our area. Our maintenance team is top notch and can complete most service requests within 48 hours. We are sorry to hear our leasing team’s customer service has not met your expectations. We would like to have the opportunity to speak directly with you. Please send your contact information and any questions or concerns you may have to ICanHelp@AirCommunities.com. -Susan
Review from Apartments.com
Avoid, there is a reason the prices are "cheap"
August 16, 2022There is a reason why Foxchase apartments are so reasonably priced for Alexandria. This reviews is especially for all my fellow tech consultants and Amazon workers moving to the area. They look decent at first glance, but tons of issues and management is no help. I lived here for a few years. I always had issues. In fact, Alexandria housing authority is well aware of the issues and got involved. Mice and roaches are a big issue. The neighborhood is dangerous. Earlier in the year, someone was ...beaten to death and left in the bushes. Robberies and thefts aren't uncommon. There are no cameras in parking lot. Worse, management is no help. They have been caught lying saying they fixed issues when they haven't... Additionally, the grounds are often gross and covered in trash. The no smoking rule is a joke, you smell cigarettes and weed everywhere. The door frames are metal and everyone slams them. You will hear it perfectly in your bedroom at night when your third floor neighbor comes home drunk at 3 am and slams their door. The parking situation is horrible, not enough spots available, even if you pay for parking. They constantly change the situation and what parking spots are available to use. They often block off multiple spaces for their maintenance team during the day, but there maintenance teams never use them. The worst part is the contractors they use. They leave nails and other stuff out in the parking lot. Any given week, you can see multiple cars with flat tires in the parking lot because contractors were careless and left nails on the ground. When management gets confronted, they say, they aren't our employees, they contractors, so not our problem. If you have money to afford another apartment, do it, don't think you will save money living here. It's not worth it...Property Manager Responded
September 9, 2022Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience at Foxchase. We appreciate the feedback you have provided. It is our loyal residents that help us grow and become a better community. We apologize if at any time you felt our customer service did not meet your expectations. We have a third party exterminator that works with our residents weekly. Please submit a service request for pest treatments and they will work with you to eliminate all pest concerns. We are a very large community so there will be an occasional theft. We encourage residents to file a police report. We do not have evidence that we reside in a dangerous area. Our residents are our eyes and ears on the ground for identifying smoking violators. Our staff cannot be everywhere at once and we encourage our residents to identify smokers so we can address and fine the violation. Without a name on this review we are unable to identify you to look into your feedback more specifically. Please contact me atICanHelp@aircommunities.com ...so we can assist further. We look forward to hearing from you! -Susan

Review from Apartments.com
roaches/mice
July 27, 2021I was charged monthly for pest control yet the apartment was always crawling with roaches. Despite keeping the apartment clean and constantly taking the trash out to avoid the pest, the roaches became more and more relentless. After accepting that I was stuck with the roaches, mice started coming out from behind the oven. I requested more pest control on top of the monthly service and all the maintenance did was put sticky traps under my sink and in one kitchen cabinet, leaving a mess along their ...way. This did nothing to stop the roaches or mice, leaving me to be forced to capture the mice myself and throw them out of the building.Property Manager Responded

Way too pricey, older, carless management
July 1, 2021The rent was already too high when they raised it with my lease renewal. I have empty units in my building that have gone without tenants for a long time, and I renewed my lease, and they raised my rent. I pay on time, in full, every month, don't disturb my neighbors, and I maintain my substandard, overpriced, tiny apartment. I did not want to move right now. The units in my building may remain without tenants because Foxchase does not value good tenants. Management does a poor job of notifying ...tenants of the need to access the units, sending out a notice that "sometime within the next 6 weeks" they will need to access your apartment and all belongings and furniture must be moved away from the walls, and pets put in cages. What, every weekday for 6 weeks? They are required to give 24 hours notice, and this doesn't cut it. They advertise they take credit cards for a convenience fee, but don't tell you it's a highway robbery level convenience fee. My unit is well located, there's plenty of transportation, buses, and it's near a couple of Metro stations. There's 2 grocery stores within walking distance. Neighbors maintain their pets (but, they're probably being fined with rent increases, too, so all the good tenants will be leaving). The apartment is one of the ones not refurbished, so the rent is ridiculous. They picked the cheapest app possible for the thermostat and door, so it never works correctly, and you always have to reset it. My door lock needed a new battery when I moved in, but management told me I just had to use it differently, a year later (after they punished me with a rent increase for being a good tenant) maintenance replaced the battery and now it works correctly. The washer and dryer in my building are also controlled by a different badly designed app. Sometimes it won't let you use the dryer. Sometimes it's down. It takes 5 minutes to find the washer and dryer in your building, even though there is only one of each. Tenants in my building block the door open all of the time, even though I live on Duke Street. This is a new phenomenon, probably associated with Foxchase punishing and chasing off good tenants with rent increases. The maintenance people are outstanding in every way. They come, get the work done quickly and right, and then they go away. Overall: don't. Foxchase doesn't want you.Property Manager Responded
July 9, 2021Hello, thank you for sharing your experience and providing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. In reference to your rent increase, we feel our rates are competitive and on par with similar communities within our area. When it comes to work taking place inside resident’s homes, written notice is provided at least 24 hours prior to any maintenance work that may disturb our residents. We will always try to avoid disturbances but there are times we must access apartments to complete necessary work or for an emergency; the lease provides permission for this as well. I apologize that you had a negative experience with our apps each resident uses. We feel you are frustrated and we would like to address your concerns with you directly. Please email ICanHelp@aircommunities.com and provide your contact information. We look forward o hearing from you. -Susan

Hidden fees and ROACHES
May 29, 2021Utilities - fine. I'll pay those. But charge me $5/m rent for a service they chose to use and $5/m for a keyless door and "Smart" HVAC that rarely works properly? I'd rather save my $120 a year. Have had roaches in my apartment since before I moved in. Complained to leasing office. Maintenance came and spent less than 2 minutes in my unit.. The roaches come in when it rains and I've found them in the kitchen, my bedroom, and IN MY BED! If I request pest control (Which I pay about $10/month for ...already) to come, they will add the bill to my rent the following month? CRAZY. Parking is a joke. Don't bother paying the monthly lot fee. The spaces are too narrow and you won't be able to find a space after 7 pm. Street parking is free although the leasing office won't disclose that to you on your tour. Think twice before signing a lease here.Property Manager Responded

Mice and very high noise levels
December 14, 2020Management is so unresponsive and unreliable. They don’t care about your experience once you signed the lease. It’s a very nice and convenient location. Noise levels are very high. I’ve caught 7 mice already and I’ve been here for about a year. OkProperty Manager Responded

DO NOT RENT **Beware**
June 24, 2020I lived here for 2 years, in 2 different apartments. The management and leasing staff are TERRIBLE. They never answer the phone, or call/email you back. I had to email the manager of the parent company to even get someone to talk to me about my move out. They honestly need to figure out better staffing because they are only helpful when you move in. Though the location is great, the buildings are old and need A LOT of work. They are "trying" to update the kitchens and bathrooms but honestly its ...just slapping a bandaid on the problem. Trust me, I moved right down the street for almost the same rent in a newer building, with a different company, and its amazing.Property Manager Responded
