Worst apartments I've ever lived in.
August 23, 2023Good luck getting a hold of maintenance if you need anything done. When we moved in they showed us an apartment that was make ready. And they pulled a switch rule on us and gave us an apartment that wasn't even cleaned out from the last tenants. My wife and I had to spend the afternoon cleaning this unit out before we can move our stuff in. My wife was so so upset she cried. To top that off our bathroom wall paint was peeling from water damage that was leaking in the bathroom come to find out it ...was still leaking. We notified them when we first moved in. 9 months later it's still leaking no repairs have been done after complaining several times. I had to go to the city health inspector because of black mold in order for them to get something done. Because my wife has severe asthma. And I've never had allergies in my life until I moved into this apartment. Upon complaint to the health department they finally do something about it. But all they did was come in and put a big hole in my bathroom ceiling only to expose us to the black mold even more and yet have done anything about it that was a week ago. They come in my apartment without notifying me. I can go on and on and on about complaints about this apartment complex. If you're looking for a reasonable place to live this is not the place.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Guns, Violence, Drugs and Homeless people
July 27, 2023If you want to find the worst apartment in Denver look no further, we have a homeless man who lives on site in the laundry room/boiler room, children ride their scooters on every floor making the dogs bark 24/7, adults let their kids stay up til 3am screaming and run up and down the stairs constantly, theft is huge here and we are given key fobs to gates and doors that don’t even close securely so anyone is welcome to steal your packages, laundry room has been broken for the last year and mold is ...growing all over the walls, multiple apartments have flooded constantly and leak into apartments below and the building manager does not read or reply to any emails, they said it was renovated but they just painted over all the damage, our AC remote was painted onto our actual AC and our pipes are covered in paint from them trying to fix leaks, this is the worst place I’ve ever stayed at, they should demolish their entire complex, oh and we have cockroaches everywhere!!!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Management is a nightmare
July 10, 2023I was duped by the renovated apartments. To be fair, the apartments themselves were nice at one point, with stone countertops and new appliances. However, management doesn’t take care of anything. Maintenance requests, even ones concerning resident safety, are ignored for months on end and disregarded. The common areas are filthy with trash and cigarette butts everywhere. Elevator doesn’t work, which makes moving in and out on the upper floors a nightmare as the stairs are narrow and can be very ...slick. The parking lot is a mess, with lots of potholes and residents and their guests parking in lanes so access is blocked. People pile their trash on the ground and dump furniture by the dumpsters. Management is extremely non-communicative and getting in touch with someone takes a lot of luck. When I moved out, I submitted my notice to vacate well over a month in advance but didn’t hear anything back for weeks to acknowledge they received it. But apparently they had a management change or someone forgot to tell the other managers, because two months later, they’re still demanding rent. Ludicrous.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Three months left on my lease and I am outta here
February 26, 2020Apartments are nice and modern. After 9 months I can see they just put paint on everything and it is starting to ware out. Electricity is original wiring and does not work with modern appliances. Look close outside railing are starting to rust. Cement floor is starting to crack. This is less than one year after renovations When we moved in it was great. There were two people in the management office 6 days a week. No one in the office ever now. E-mail and faxes go unanswered. Management ...office is located in New York City, and they never reply. All the good tenants have moved out and you are left with the riff raft. Until management get rid of these poor tenants you will never keep any good ones. People leave trash outside door and it is there for days, a fire code violation. Not a Smoke Free Building, smoking majurana and cigarettes in public areas and in apartments. When they smoke inside it come into other apartment through the vents Trash, Trash, Trash. It is always overflowing and now has become a dumping ground for contractors in the neighborhood Some features they say available: -Package Service - Nope door is locked, Amazon, Fedex will not deliver as the door is locked -Maintenance on site - One a week, super nice guy but it is impossible for him to keep up -Property Manager on Site - Never, has not been in office for weeks -Cable Ready - Nope, wait a month and Xfinity will come and drill a hole through your bedroom wall -Disposal – No Garbage disposal in units To the Owner of the Building, The management company is destroying your investmentRead MoreReview from Apartments.com
Terrible Management, Lots of Electric Issues
February 19, 2020Electric issues inside the building, staff REFUSES to answer phone calls (and the mailbox is full, so no voicemails allowed) has changed management 3 times in 10 months, dog crap everywhere, no snow removal at all in the parking lot which has caused at least 3 accidents I have witnessed, electrical outlets work 20 minutes at a time and need to be reset, Internet needs to be installed from your provider and will take a month or soReview from Apartments.com
Prices are variable per month. Poor maintenance and management
January 28, 2020The architect and designers did a great job renovating the aesthetics - except for the laundry and elevator. Electrical is constantly going out, and all our heating and appliances are electrical. The building maintenance fees and common area bills are higher than quoted and changes monthly. The garbage doesn't even get picked up on time, and we don't have recycling. I don't know what our monthly charges go towards, the common laundry is always gross and we pay separately to use the ...machines. Management has changed people and then changed hands and it has become increasingly more chaotic. The common areas aren't maintained (laundry room, laundry machines, grill, parking lot). It took us three written and two verbal requests to get our kitchen outlets from shorting. We no longer have an onsite maintenance manager for the two buildings. Recently, the heating has stopped working for days (it's still not fixed as I'm writing this). Besides the monthly charges changing constantly, the new management is not honoring the previous leases and have raised the rent by more than 15% without notice. And this month (jan 2020), we've had the police visit for a noise disturbance, and a homicide detective investigating a nearby homicide with one of our tenants under scrutiny. We had a prostitute too, but she left. Everyone is generally nice (except management), but it's very dodgy and getting worse.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Very Disappointed... Poor Management
July 10, 2019**The original landlord, Luke, was great. Since the management has changed, things have gone downhill very quickly. They are overcharging their tenants, claiming their rent is late, when in reality their online rent payment has had technical errors. They are AWARE of this, and still charged us, as well as other tenants an additional $150. They are inconsiderate and money-hungry. We have always been in good-standing with our previous apartments/landlords and pay our rent on time. These people are ...slimy. They have yet to address the maintenance issues we’ve been having as well.** The garbage situation is horrible. Weeks have gone by without the trash being picked up. That means there is a garbage mountain blowing around the parking lot and rotting in 90 degree heat. We all get charged monthly for a trash fee, so I don't understand why that's been happening. I was told before moving in that there would be a spacious, convenient laundry facility on the first floor. It was still under renovation when we moved in. It’s basically a laundry CLOSET. There is no space for more than 1 person to be in there at a time. It's always extremely hot in there because there's no airflow to the outside. There are only 3 *tiny* washing machines and 3 dryers. The worst part is that the laundry 'closet' is FILTHY. The floors and machines are caked with grime and dirt. There always seems to be ‘emergencies’ going on, thus causing them to turn our water/power off unannounced. This has happened multiple times. A courtesy email letting the tenants know this work is going on would be nice. There is a serious lack of communication generally. A others have mentioned, there are hidden fees galore. Now, this wouldn't be as big of an issue to me if there weren't a plethora of other problems going on. If the community was truly being well-kept and they were a decent management co., I wouldn't complain about it. It just seems that the $$$ we pay isn't actually being put towards what it is intended to, and many of the tenants are being grossly scammed out of money. Here's a positive, though: we really enjoy our actual unit. Lots of natural light, fresh design, new appliances (small AC unit, tho). Plenty of space for 2 people! It's a decent location as far as nearby shopping and public transit goes. Quite obviously, I don't recommend living here. I didn’t even address all the issues, because my review would have been too long, haha! After living here for 5 months, I’m very disappointed.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
The Jewell Apt - What a joke
July 4, 2019Here are the issues. 1. garbage never picked up. 2. common area fees? courtyard looks and smells like urine. 3. BBQ? Does anyone see one. 4. Maintenance Crew entering the units without notice. 5. Fees are high!!! 6. The units run hot and only provide a small A/C unit. 7. Pet Friendly - but the management company doesn't enforce folks not picking up after the dogs. 8. Smoke Free - inside. But folks are hanging on the steps smoking; cigarettes and cannabis 9. Management doesn't do ...anything about noisy neighbor. I love listening to Trap music All Day long 10. I could type more but I'm tired of this place.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Please stay away. The front office is highly deceptive and will do anything to get you to sign the lease.
July 1, 2019I would give this place 0 stars if it were possible. I am echoing the other reviews here. The stock photos of the Jewell Apartments look modern and sleek; however, after living here for 3 months, this place is absolute garbage. I was one of the first tenants that moved into this apartment and initially, the banner in front of the office noted that these were LUXURY apartment units. They have since taken the LUXURY word off of the banner and now market these as renovated apartments. I have ...noted the following issues with this apartment complex: 1. Despite what the front office might tell you during the apartment tours, THE APARTMENTS ARE NOT CABLE READY. During the renovation of the apartment complex, some bright individual decided to cut ALL the cables running into the apartment units. You have to schedule an MDU rewire, which make take WEEKS for your apartment to get internet. 2. The trash never gets picked up, it has been nearly 2 weeks now and the trash has not been picked up once. Funny thing is that we pay for garbage in our utility bill. 3. Parking is proving to be a problem already as there are 92 units between the two buildings and counted there are only 84 parking spaces (noted by an individual in the last review). 4. Electricty and water gets turned off without notice, MULTIPLE TIMES. The front office says that they are emergency repairs. 5. The front office is only open from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM SHARP. If you work normal workday hours and have a package delivered to the front office, chances are you are not going to be able to get it until the weekend. Even if you request that the package be left in front of your door, there are issues with theft in the complex. PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Great.... at first
June 26, 2019Place was great when we first got here, but we're now noticing many issues with the complex. 1. The trash never gets picked up, its been nearly 2 weeks now and the trash has not been picked up once, garbages overflowing. 2. Parking is proving to be a problem already as there are 92 units between the two buildings and counted there are only 84 parking spaces. Not even enough for everyone to have one vehicle let alone the families that own two. 3. Fees. There are so many fees. Understand that ...we are responsible for all utilities however they're not the standard for living in Denver from research I've done. -Water: $10.95 -Sewer $16.36 -Trash (that never gets picked up): $14.50 -Gas: $31.62 -Cam charges: $32.38 -Service fee: $6.50 Along with $10 a day when late on rent, which is normal, however being slapped with a $280 attorneys fee and a possible court date for being two weeks behind due to job issues isn't normal and is quite ridiculous imo. 4. The heat never really turns off. We've had people come in trying to fix it several times only to shrug their shoulders and say we don't know. 5. We've had someone try to enter our unit twice without notice or permission. When confronted the man has said "wrong apartment" okay no problem however the second time he unlocked the door, tried to come inside, and when my fiancé went to the door alarmed asking what he was doing he said he was "trying to lock the door". Was told he was a plumber but he was not as we've seen him wandering around the buildings before and don't know why he has keys that can open our door. 6. Leaving is not an available option unless your lease is up. They do not allow sub-leasing, but when asked about a lease transfer the new apartment manager kept saying they don't sublease. A lease transfer is different from a sub-lease. Not only that but transferring to a cheaper unit is considered breaking the lease, which I don't understand how. We were told if we transfer units it will be considered a break of lease and it would basically be like moving in all over again. Breaking a lease btw is cause for 2 months of rent when notice to vacate is given plus additional fees. So that on top of needing a new deposit ($200) and first months rent again just to switch to a cheaper unit is absolutely ridiculous. Place was nice before but as of right now we won't be renewing when our lease is up.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Hidden Fees everywhere
June 21, 2019Loved this place when I first moved in and then problem started to appear quickly. To be fair it is a beautiful apartment and newly renovated. They do allow two Dog's which is great, but the fee is $500 per dog and you loose half of that at move in as a pet fee. Issues: They cut all the internet cables and you need to wait two weeks for Xfinity to drill a hole in the side of the apartment and then have your modem in your bedroom When they renovated they never fixed the electrical. They have ...hooked up the dishwasher to power outlet on the wall. If you want to wash your dishes you will not be able to use any of the outlets in the kitchen They have been here three times to fix the heat and it still does not work Fees.... Yes the Fees. Add at least $100 a month for the fees on top of your rent. They charge for everything, this is way above standard for Denver. Water $10.24; Sewer $16.36; Trash $14.50, Gas $29.57; CAM Charges $32.38; Service Fee $6.50 Trash never collected, many resident are upset by thisRead MoreReview from Apartments.com
