There are a number of culinary options in Detroit, but when those cold winter months hit, sometimes nothing hits the spot for apartment-ites are real, authentic Southern cooking. One place doing Souther cooking up right is Fishbone's Rhythm Kitchen Café. Inside its humble surroundings, you'll walk and feel like you've been transported straight to the streets of New Orleans, with a bright, festive, electric atmosphere that will have a smile on your face in no time, and just wait til you take a bite of the delicious food. You'll be hooked on Fishbone's. Fishbone's is famous for its zesty New Orleans flavor, and even the appetizers feature that signature spice. Try some New Orleans bar-b-que shrimp, or some fresh alligator voodoo, authentic Louisiana crawfish boil, or Fishbone's signature Bayou Caviar, juicy crawfish fried in their special mix. If you're having trouble deciding which starter is right for you, try the platter, which will get you their spicy chicken Thibodeux, alligator voodoo, calamari, catfish beignets, onion rings, and artichoke spinach dip. You could also start things off with a steaming bowl of gumbo, or a crispy green salad. When moving on to main courses, you have a huge number of options, from steaks and chops, to chicken and ribs, to seafood, sandwiches and burgers, but the best bang for your buck at this place would have be one of their New Orleans favorites. You can choose from their crawfish etouffee, hot and spicy jambalaya, spiced andouille sausage, snapper beausoleil, or catfish atchafalya, or you can get something more traditional with their fried catfish, fried shrimp, grilled selfish combo, or the combo mombo platter, with fried shrimp, catfish and scallops. No matter what you order from the extensive menu, you'll find their signature New Orleans kick in every bite. Northerners hankering for a taste of down south need wait no longer. Apartment-ites can rejoice as they head down to Fishbone's Rhythm Kitchen Café, a little piece of Louisiana, right in the heart of downtown Detroit.
