In 2010, the Ad Hoc Bicycle Committee in Frederick was formed by the mayor. This committee was created with the mission to turn the city into a BFC – better known as a Bicycle Friendly Community. The committee’s hard work and dedication paid off because they received bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community status in 2012 by the League of American Bicyclists. In 2013, the Bicycle Committee expanded its scope even further and was newly renamed the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee to promote safety, accessibility, and even better infrastructure. "

"Frederick is intersected by five notable roads and streets. These roadways will take passenger vehicles to many local landmarks and hotspots throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. I-70 intersects Frederick and represents the major highway between Hagerstown and Baltimore. US 40 concurrently travels in tandem with US 15 North and I-70 until it ends and becomes West Patrick Street. US 15 is also known as Frederick Freeway. This road heads north to Gettysburg in Pennsylvania and South to Leesburg, VA and Point of Rocks, MD alongside US 340. I-270 is better known as Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Highway. It starts at I-70 and heads southeastward in the direction of Washington D.C. US 340 travels in a southwesterly direction concurrently with US 15 until it starts veering west in the direction of Harpers Ferry, WV. "
