Livermore Overview

From rocky hills to sandy lake fronts to breathtaking modernized townscapes, this Almeda County centerpiece is a glittering gem of the Tri-Valley area. Those that live in the city limits of Livermore CA know that it’s one of the most beautiful suburbs on the west coast. This temperate city gives residents access to a bustling community life, enjoyable landmarks, and exciting activities to do no matter what your hobbies are.

What is the history of Livermore?

Livermore was founded by missionaries in 1796, more than fifty years before California would become an American state. Cow rancher Robert Livermore inherited a large portion of land in 1839, beginning the process of turning the land over from Indian wilderness to pastures for grazing cattle and his growing interest in horticulture. Within a few short years, the population of Livermore exploded. The ranch that bore Robert’s name became a recognized and populous trade district as manifest destiny expanded.

How is the weather in Livermore?

An average annual temperature of 60 degrees keeps Livermore comfortable throughout the year, never dropping below freezing and rarely breaking into the 100s during the summertime. While rainfall only averages fifteen inches annually, the mild climate and sunny skies ensure that outdoor activities are viable and comfortable activities in each of the four seasons.

How do I get around town?

Driving in Livermore is perhaps the best way to navigate the city. Plenty of biking and walking paths are available in the newly renovated downtown area, but residents living in quieter places will require more reliable mediums. A local bus option, train station, and an airport in the heart of the city ensures easy access to public transportation.

What is the Livermore commute like?

Arthur H. Breed Jr Highway (or I-580) runs along the top of the city headed east towards I-205. Interstate 680 becomes State Road 81, running north through the center of Livermore. Stanley Boulevard continues diagonally through the city from southwest to northeast, with access to a large section of the area. Livermore is the most populous city in the Tri-Valley area, so expect frequent traffic delays throughout the day.

What are the local media outlets?
