What is the history of Mount Prospect?
In 1833, a group of New England farmers came, cleared and planted on the land that would later become the downtown area of Mount Prospect. Later, a local railroad company placed track that ran through the heart of Mount Prospect, but it would be a few years (1886) before a stop was created in town. The area's biggest land barron, Ezra Carpenter Eggleston, who owned the entire south side of the railroad tracks, was instrumental in naming the town. Eggleston felt the land stood on the highest point in Cook County and thus named the city, Mount Prospect. Post World War II, the town became home to middle-class Chicagoans looking for an alternative lifestyle away from the big city life.

The train service is the North Central Service Line which travels from Antioch, IL to Chicago's Union Station. The commute to Chicago from Mount Prospect is approximately 24 miles or a 29 minute non-stop drive on either the I-90W or I-94W. However, both highways offer a direct access to downtown Chicago and a short detour to O'Hare Airport.
