When you're an apartment resident living in the Southwest, one major flavor that finds find it to your plate is Mexican, and so it's no surprise that Denver has a full roster of delicious Mexican restaurants to choose from. Dora's has been serving up authentic Mexican dishes, passed down through generations, for over 30 years, and the patrons just keep coming to taste the fresh, delicious flavors. If you're looking for Mexican food in Denver, you can do little better than Dora's. There are a number of different options when it comes to your culinary needs at Dora's, but no matter what you choose for your main course, it's always wise to pick something from their Botanas menu to start out the night. You get your choice of nachos, in bean, or beef, chicken or beef and bean, or their sloppy fries, covered in green chili and cheese. You can also take in their chili con queso, served up in either hot or mild, also made with seasoned ground beef, and served with chips, quesadillas, filled with beef, chicken, shredded beef or fajita chicken, or Doug's sampler, with 4 cream cheese and jalapeno rolls, 4 rolleno poppers, ½ an order chili con queso, with fried flour chips and guacamole. When it's time for the main course, try out one of their signature specials, including their most famous, Dora's Signature chimichanga, with your choice of chicken or beef sirloin, covered in green chili and cheese, and topped with sour cream, guacamole lettuce and tomatoes, or tamale dinner, served with Spanish rice, refried beans, lettuce and tomatoes. You can also get specialty plates with tacos, burritos, tostadas, or enchiladas, as well as huevos rancheros, chili relleno, flautas, and even stuffed sopapillas. They also have a number of delectable combination plates, where you can mix and match all the items on their menu to make one delicious meal. For those in the mood for something a bit different, you can try their juicy burgers, including the Mexican Hamburger, with beans in a flour tortilla, smothered in green chili and cheese, garnished with lettuce and tomatoes, and their Sloppy Jose, shredded beef and cheese on a bun, served with French Fries. They also have steak options, including their Mexican Steak, smothered in pepper, tomato and onion, served with rice, beans and flour tortillas, or carne tampiquena, served with a cheese enchilada, beans, rice and tortillas. Just make sure you save room for one of their terrific desserts, including Doritas Delight, a sopapilla filled with cream cheese, topped with ice cream, honey and strawberry puree, or their ambrosial flan or fried ice cream. For real Mexican in Denver, there are few places that get it just right.
