Aurora is a young, vibrant community that combines ready access to Denver and the nearby Rocky Mountains with the wide-open space necessary for active outdoor living. Aurora started as the town of Fletcher, named for Denver businessman Donald Fletcher, who hoped to make money selling real estate here. After the silver crash of 1893, Fletcher skipped town leaving the inhabitants holding a large water debt. They renamed the town Aurora in 1907. Since then, the town�s population has grown dramatically, and it now rivals its nearby neighbor Denver.

Interstate 225 is the major north/south corridor through the populous western part of Aurora and highway E-470 services the less densely populated eastern side of the city. Both highways give you ready access to Interstate 25 to the west and Interstate 70 to the north, which serve as the main connectors throughout the Denver metropolitan area.
