Even if you were never a theater major in high school, everybody has a little goth hiding inside them somewhere. C'mon, admit it - you still liked The Crow, and when no one is looking you can belt out The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" with the best of them. So the next time you want to get in touch with your inner mope (or are simply yearning for some, um, leather), stretch your wings and head on down to Elysium. Located in the heart of the Red River club scene, Elysium has a hardcore army of devotee regulars that can be spotted a mile away. Heavy eyeshadow, stilleto heels and black, black, black is the order of the night. And while a certain clique always holds court, anyone and everyone is also welcomed with open arms at the club, resulting in a huge melting pot of the counter culture. A variety of bands have graced the surprisingly large stage, recently including My Life with The Thrill Kill Cult and Flock Of Seagulls, but by and large Elysium is all about the dance. Sunday nights are the place to be seen, as their legendary 80's party draws a huge crowd eager to relive the decade of excess; get there early, stay late, and don't be surprised if you end up seducing a dance pole on the main stage. Your more reserved pals can play pool and hide amongst the shadows in the corner, or better yet can fetch you beers from the large bar that can sometimes get three people deep. And of course there are wall-to-wall mirrors dotting the interior, to help keep your hair perfectly stiff...and to help you search out the real vampires.
