Denver is just bristling with many interesting forms of wildlife, but when apartment-ites want to discover and investigate some of this wildlife, it can sometimes be dangerous. If you want to take in all the precious flora and fauna of Colorado, and the world, without losing an arm, there's no place to do it quite like the Denver Zoo. Animals from all over the world are represented at this 80-acre estate, so there's something for all you animals out there, from beasts of the land, to the beasts of the sea, to beasts of the air. There's even educational experience for all you folks with kids out there, or for those who just want to know a little more about the world around them. The zoo brings in all of the usual animals you would expect in a zoo, including plenty of monkeys and apes, from howler monkeys, to orangutans, to gorillas, a boatload of hoofed animals, from plenty of breeds of zebra, okapis, water buffalo and gazelles; giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, tree frogs, flamingos, penguins, and every other animal you could think of. They also a number of really rare finds, such as twin red pandas, a golden lion tamarin, alligator-snapping turtles, bald eagles, Przewalski wild horses, even a Madagascar hissing cockroach. Animals of every phylum, order, class and species can be seen here, so if you love animals, you have no reason not to stop by. There are also a number of education programs at the park, whether you're a child or an adult. For children, there are a number of camps, workshops, and special events that help educate them about the animal world and their own environment. One of the most popular events is Bunk with the Beasts, where children sleep over at the zoo and learn about the animals and plants that call the park home. They also have a fun summer camp for those in preschool to fifth grade. For adults, they have a number of programs to help you get in touch with the animal lover in you, from community outreach programs, to volunteering opportunities, to special events and classes to help teach you what you need to know about the wildlife and their environment at the zoo. There are plenty of ways to spend the day in the beautiful environs of Denver, but for animal lovers, no place captures the wonder of the zoo. The Denver Zoo will have apartment-ites blown away, and they'll want to come back every weekend.
